Seems a bit like MMOs where you don't really get to know the game until a while into it (rockpapershotgun often go back and do extra reviews later on).
I thought the beta was amazing already, found myself having withdrawals for days after it ended. Who cares about reviews if you've actually tried the game already and liked it?

I have truly never understood everyone's desire to agree with a review.
And just from playing the beta, it sounds legit that they don't want people reviewing the game without playing it the way it's meant to be played.
Xoliul and Bagel - I totally know what you guys mean, I was hooked on playing the Crucible loads during beta and helping out others on missions, it was a blast! I think the only other shooters I'm psyched about is division and RS6: Siege (Big tom clancy fan.)
im more looking forward to reviews for learning how much content there actually is, i feel like it wont be as much as people think.
however, gameplay was great fun. good with friends, but im a little with lack of PC release as i dont have a next gen console, and i feel like the experience on last gen might be a little bit lacking for the full game.

I must've clocked so many hours of Last of us Multiplayer, its awesome if you're into competitive shooters, but equally can make you rage pretty bad when you get stuck with newbies as it is very team focused. Just to add to what everyone else has said, PS4 is the way
I just hope the combat is visceral and not just numbers appearing over enemys heads.
The combat is very good. I am not a huge FPS fan, but I love Destiny's combat. It's snappy, responsive, and has great feedback.
Borderlands needs Destiny's quality of combat. There are many times in Borderlands where you're undergeared and you spend an eternity trying to kill something.
I am actually really pretty excited for this game, however, a first person shooter to me is never a reason to buy a console. Any FPS I wind up playing, regardless of how good it is, I want it to be with a mouse & keyboard at my desk. I even intend on buying a PS4, but I won't be buying this for the PS4 despite how great it looks.
Eh- no more digital preorders for me.
All the developer rage over piracy and trade-ins..
This non-local pre-load release makes no sense. Steam is local pre-load.
I picked it up on PS3. Since I don't own a "next-gen" system. I like the idea of being able to continue playing when I pick up a PS4. Anyways, I love the game, but my PS3 was bought on release so it sounds like a vacuum-cleaner/jet-engine.
The game is great though, but on PS3 the graphics kind of look as if you've turned down all graphics settings to low. So it doesn't look very impressive, and I can image what it would look like on PS4. That said, when you're running and guning you hardly focus on the texture quality.
So right now I'm trying to justify a PS4 purchase, but a better looking version of a game I already own.. is hardly a good reason ^^
I might pick it up on the PS3, anyone else doing last gen?
I'm on PS3 Add me: Minos321
Really digging the game so far, love the universe. I'm also pretty impressed by the PS3 port, plays pretty smooth and the only major differences are lower texture and screen resolutions.
Don't know if they will be implementing this in the expansion, but what do you guys reckon of a Crucible mode in the vein of 'Search and Destroy', like in CoD (or even Survivors mode in The Last of Us multiplayer factions?) Either a 5vs5 or 6vs6 mode with several rounds. You have one life per round, so when you die you're knocked out until respawning with your team in the next round.
Not sure if it would work in Destiny though since multiplayer is so fast paced, but could provide a lot of strategic play which would be pretty interesting.
I'm enjoying the game but it's getting a little repetitive and the missions are all nearly the same. It's always Kill->Scan->Hold off waves of enemies. Hopefully there are some different missions along the way (I'm Level 13). Still fun as hell though.
I got the PS4 bundle and I'm really liking it so far. I love the sound effects and music as well. I only got my character to level 4 the first night after spending a lot of time looking at stuff. I really like the speeder bikes. Hope there's a bike racing/deathrace mode to come :P
The only thing I'd say is avoid the Bungie forums for a while especially the feedback part, full of whiners like "This is why destiny will fail" or "Bungie, I can't play this game because my connection sucks"
Blaming Bungie for your crappy connection, I see the logic.... XD

I agree, but that's how I've felt about any game similar to this. I like the bounties though, they offer some variety to the missions and help you rank up really fast.
Multiplayer feels really unbalanced though. I don't know if it's just me or if they really do let the higher ranks use the better guns, but there's times where I'm destroyed in 2 seconds.
There are a couple of underground areas and an open area in the far north of earth with really high level enemy's that I still can't ID yet, noticed this in the beta too. I assume its going to be some post level cap content.
Also the multiplayer is sooooo much fun Bungie nailed that really well.

Yeah I was finding that when I was below level 10-ish. There certainly comes a point after that when you start getting weapons that are a lot more powerful, you might want to focus on the story missions and come back to it around level 11, I did that and am enjoying the multiplayer a hell of a lot more now.

I think anything that is like 10 levels above you is marked as a ???
They will murder you in 1 shot.
Also, anything 2 levels above you will murder you pretty hard too, but you can still kill them if you're careful.

Hopefully that's the case here.

Anyone can be a reviewer. The funny ones just happen to get paid.
I could care less about what the media says at this point, tbh.

PC release supposedly next March
Oh wow, I hope so, I wasn't really looking to buy any of the new consoles or playing it on last gen.
Also, don't twist my words into something other than they aren't (since I work at Bungie).
Same goes for any studio anywhere: don't believe rumors. Only a studio's official confirmation counts as anything.
So far Bungie has announced nothing for PC.
That aside, it fucking rocks on PS4. To me it is the only reason to have a PS4 right now. In fact it is a reason to buy a PS4.
Was considering going to the midnight launch to get a copy, but I will just be patient XD
Why I got my PS4, no regrets whatsoever, and super excited for the servers to go live tonight! Been quite the wait for release... lol
Im gonna get a ps4 for my birthday in january and this is the game I want to try the most. This and the last of us as Ive never played that yet!

Destiny is really a top notch game.
It goes live tonight!
Best of luck to you and the crew at Bungie!
Here's hoping for a PC release.
Midnight their time?
Hmm, I'm not sure. I didn't know everywhere else used their local time. I'm just picking it up with the white PS4 tomorrow morning.

If anyone wants I'm fragloser on PSN. I don't play too often but addd if you're looking to play.
This is correct.
You even get to keep your characters too
The only reason I own a PS3 is because EA paid for half the cost, if anyone wants to kick me $200 I'll pick up a PS4.

Yeah that must be it, i am around 10 at the moment so they must be about level 20.
