So they moved away from Halo... By making a game that looks like Halo...?
Also, stop teasing and just release damn footage of the game already... A few quick 1-2 seconds of some guys running up a poorly textured floor isn't cutting it for me. No reveal should ever have 100x more footage of some guy tapping on a PHONE over gameplay...
a lot of the robot/hardsurface looks a lot like halo sure but there's a lot more variety in the environments I feel like. I'm really excited about the concept of the game itself... can't wait to play it.

Game looks nothing like halo, i was hoping it would actually just a wee bit but the new character designs look awesome and very different. if you talking about the environments then Mass effect, star trek, dead space, warframe all look like halo.
my only gripe is the in-game characters they showed were kinda ugly, after seeing how high fidelity the Halo: Reach character models were i was hoping the character art team would bring the heat on this game.
they could just be placeholder as those things always change so fingers crossed
they could always just make a corridor shooter? what i was saying is that sci-fi has the same base but each game has a different style.
its basically saying that mirrors edge looks like call of duty because its set in modern times, yeah they have some of the same aspects but the two games look completely different.
This is going to be incredible if they can pull it off. These concepts look absolutely stunning! Especially the characters on page 4 of that link tottot posted! I am so anxious to run around in these environments!
Sounds/looks really cool, although I won't lie, I am disappointed about no PC version. I was hoping after Halo Bungie would go more multi-platform for their next franchise.
I was worried; found it very visually boring and generic at the beginning of the 'trailer'... especially the characters and UI. But it got better as it went on. The colours are nice, and the weapons look good from FP view which is what is important. Still fairly generic sci-fi looking though, which is disappointing... considering how Halo was such a game changer.
I really like what they did with animating the concepts.
Sounds like a Halo-ish Borderlands type of game. Pretty cool. I just really wish they had a PC version. It seems like this game would work really well on a PC.
As Bigjohn said, it sounds like some kind of "raid" oriented, instanced MP game that plays a bit like Borderlands.
I am expecting $5 DLC episodes. You will probably be able to buy those from the phone app, as well as have in-game chat, and friend-list style support.
Content looks like a toned down version of Halo (no cat-sized blue strippers in sight) meets Star Wars prequels. This one looks almost exactly like Spartan armor:
while these look an awful lot alike:
The feeling I get watching the video is that they are trying to appeal to young teens. Content will probably be super earnest crusader knights on "epic" adventures with very little subtext, simple themes, but lots of complicated lore. I suspect a lot of cutscenes and scripted sequences, with maybe some new tech on how to handle that with drop-ins/outs, user created characters and multiple groups.
I'm not confident that all of that is going to add up to a game that is bigger than Halo. A lot of people are trying to use "social media" style techniques, or make big MMO games with huge budgets. I think people are tired of vanilla first person shooting, grinding and raids.
I was hoping that Bungie would make a few, smaller, more interesting games. Maybe a new RTS, or a new third person beat-em-up in addition to a more modest Halo clone.

I can't say I'm too thrilled by the concept. Most of the artwork is awesome, but I'd much have preferred a refined and directed concept; everything so far suggests scattered concepts that are kind of all over the place. I'm also skeptical about the game structure from what has been suggested so far - it's something I'd be guaranteed to avoid if it follows the model I think it does.
lost interested... not a big fan of MMOs.... but i am sure people that like this sort of stuff will be happy with it. I will be looking at the art tho.
I wish they would let go of the whole Halo style game. It would be nice to see a new IP, and not just a "new" IP that is the same style of game only an MMO of it.
Love Halo, and love the concept art, but the bits in the vidoc with actual game character models... don't get me wrong, it's a very similar aesthetic to the humans in Halo and I love those (volumes, blocky shapes, the weapons are exactly the same, etc), but the concept art evokes less blocky volumes, more roughness and rounder shapes. I think the concepts are more exciting than the implementation. Of course, I'm speaking from just a few glimpses of 3d.
Game sounds like an FPS version of Phantasy Star Online in the way the game world works and players interact. Very interesting.
It sure makes me curious as to what gameplay will be like, especially what abilities each class will have that will make each gameplay style feel different.
The concept art looks nice... tried to listen to the talk and just lost interest in their whole concept. I dunno if they just think they are doing ground breaking stuff... but all of this has been done before... game that comes to mind right away is Phantasy Star Online. But anyways.. just seems kinda generic. The art looks great, but i think they might be under the impression that this is all new to everyone that this is being showcased to.
I gotta say, I love bungie to DEATH, they are a team of some of the best talent in the industry! I would be humbled to ever get to work with them and have wanted to since I was 15! But this trailer was definitely lacking! There was really bad art direction on this video in terms of the cinematography.
The first shot you can clearly see some pretty bad tessellation on the guys gas mask. It opens on a pretty grey looking landscape with characters that all look like they belong in a different sci fi universe. Nothing really harmonious about it. They could have color graded it to make it all look like it belongs together abit more.
Plus the trailer was like....5% actual live action. I was hoping to see some of the amazing concept art imagined in real life as costumes with sweet cg robots.
This of course by no means turns me off to that project.

And that isn't a problem ..?
That is the gameplay

(I do think it looks amazing, just being a little tongue in cheek.)
Dammit bungie you have the BEST environment team!

so informative!
I put it all in my inspiration folder.

Sadly there will be no giant frogs. at the GDC talk they mentioned a few things that didn't make the cut, giant frogs being one of those things
WELL FORGET THIS GAME!
Holy hell, I hope there is one! Gotta love some 70's sci-fi influence.
