solarSailor, looking good man There's a lot of noise in your textures though; it would be easier on the eye if you tone down the normal on the walls and lower the contrast in some of your textures
ysalex, that's beautiful the first thing I noticed though is how pronounced the philtrum is. soften the edges?
Here's another quick lunch break painting. I call it: Shiny Ball on a Wacom Pen Stand.
It like totally represents how we as artists are reflected in the shiny things that we produce, dude
anywho I dont sleep on fridays, I like the progress so far, done with normals, diffuse and spec. will go over spec again mabey, doesnt make to big of a diffence though IMO. Having a blast!

How can I tone down the contrast? I have a post process volume with Ambient Occlusion off, Im really not sure where its coming from unless its coming from the diffuse itself
The volumetrics coming from the lightbulb look really odd, like it's a thin cone pointing down. It's the kind of volumetrics you'd expect from a tight spotlight/flashlight, not an open bulb
I just turned on LightShafts and played with the settings, Im not sure how to make them look decent for a light bulb such as that, perhaps you or someone out there would know.
Decided to try a new approach to diffuse only / hand painted textures. Sculpted a highpoly in zBrush and baked out a PRTp map, bent normal map, and a tangent normal map which i made into a cavity map with nDo2. I used these maps as a base lighting pass and painted over them. Pretty pleased with the results.
So many awesome things in this thread my eyes can't take it!!
Feeling festive this month, so I sketched out a candy corn monster and started modeling him the other night. Just doing a base mesh in Maya and then bringing him into ZBrush. Apologize for the watermarks, they were the only pictures I kept and were the ones that I uploaded to my website.
@Fingus nice man! love the look of it, do you feel like doing some small images of the process you did you achieve the results? always interesting seeing different workflows to cool results!
THis took to much time. Life why you get in way. Modeled in Maya colored in Zbrush. I wish i can find a job soon that's just me and a computer making models. I would totally freelance if asked. Should probably put that on my sign. Still need improvement to many great modelers here. Oh im also trying to see if i can sell these as 3d props on turbosquid check it out. http://www.turbosquid.com/Search/Artists/alarcon3d
As always i love critiques.
Just reposting something from my sketchbook. Made it a few months back for one of my subjects. It's a 3d stylized version of Studio Ghibli's "Howl's Moving Castle"
hey guys love the work here every morning before I start my work I take a look and get some inspiration for my day here, this is my Arena net Test I just finished the high res yesterday thought I needed to rush but they moved it, this is about 5 days of work.
This is filled with awesome stuff!
Fingus, thanks for the steps, i'll try them out.
FancyJames, it looks realy good, good job.
Hazardous, your girls always amaze me
@Guedin- that looks rad, can't wait to see it finalized! @Hazardous- thats one hot Pepper(see what I did there !!) Looking forward to your next livestream!
Wanted to do a portrait sketch from a sphere this morning, cause I suck at starting from a sphere. I like how its coming along so I may take it all the way, btw love these tube brushes to block in hair
Every single time I come to this thread it keeps getting better and better!
DonNatale: your castle looks great, I can't wait to see it textured!
I started on a portrait warmup that became a full blown piece. I'm only partway through it and I'm thinking of ways to spice it up, but I wanted to see what you guys thought.
Dont want to start spamming the thread so gonna avoid updates until its actually at a point where I have some decent progress, just about finished the mid-level details for most of the model, gonna begin working on the higher details and Sub-D elements next.
Hey guys, here is a caricature of the character Barney Stinston from "How I Met Your Mother" I was messing with Fibermesh for the first time. I still have to learn how to comb and groom the hair better.
I haven't done personal work in a good 4-5 months. Now that I'm unemployed it's time to get back on the bandwagon. This was 1hr + quick polypaint. Nice way to get refreshed with working at home :]
EDIT: aw i fucked up this should go into speed model u___u

Ruz: those look awesome! Love the skin look & lighting/render.
MM: I want to have your babies. I'm gonna donate some blood or other fluids so I can afford to buy Dishonored.
Fingus: Nice! I've done that once or twice before, where I sculpted a HP in zbrush, for a diffuse only lowpoly asset. I really like that technique.
Im still plugging away at this.

Im really liking the profile silhouette- awesome
I went back and re-rendered an old model in Marmoset. Pretty fun tool, I've always liked the results that people have gotten out of it.
