Im going to do a weld seam and came upp with these,
wich one do you think look best/ most realistic?
Dont care so much about the scale more about how it look. :poly121:
I gave up on a small diffuser at the back of a flat floor and hit the town with a pair of colossal venturi tunnels. The idea is, at speed, it creates a vacuum underneath the back of the car, creating downforce.
It should be able to take a volume of high-pressure air roughly the size (volume) of a PSP at the front and expand that into a very low-pressure area the size (volume) of an original XBOX at the back.
Or, it will, once I smooth the damn thing.
EDIT: placeholder exhaust pipes for now, it's really the only place I could lump all four of them together.
If you copy-paste round roofs 2 meter apart, at least rotate and mirror them.
The model looks decent (but can't really say without wires) but the textures can be improved a lot. For instance you've got seams everywhere and the materials do not look like what they should be, it all looks like plastic. Aside from that, I think you should go for a handpainted/cartoony look instead of photosourced - the tower has rather unrealistic shapes.
appreciate the feed back
the roofs were modelled separately and its the normal map thats giving the seem but the hand painted texturing sounds like a nice idea il give it a shot, thanks appreciate it
Been working on this for a while now, finnally got the damn thing unwrapped after 7 hours. Going with a character design I'm building right now. Planning on having it all finnished in a week.:)
Daphz this looks strange but in the same time looks great man
I have been doing some head studies and i was doing fine before i started on a female head
I started a thread about it and every little bit of help will be greatly appreciated.
Here is the monster and thanks in addvance
need to go over some errors in the normal and ao, see whats up
Awesome space marine dude! I tried to model my own some weeks ago, but my
concept skills are awful and my armor lacks any interesting form. So I let it be.
Good work.
I decided then to do some scopes I can use for future guns
Did you get a lot of inspiration from this piece =P?
I actually hadn't looked at slipgate's work in quite a while. I guess good style just tends to sink in unconsciously. Shit, now I don't want to come off like i'm stealing or anything. Back to the drawing board!
im running a pos laptop thats almost 4 years old and i had no troubles getting quite a few little fellas floating around. i love your minimalist style
It might be just me but the lower legs look a tad too short, making him look shorter in general. Or maybe the head is slightly too big but something is definitely off.
Yeah I was kind of thinking that, I knew something was off. I adjusted the legs and knees a bit and it seems to be a lot better, I'll post up a new version in a few days.
Highpoly barrel, This is the model i was going to use weld seam on. around those holes at the top, but i dont know really if it is welded there, anyone that knows?:\
Small base texture update. It's far from perfect or finished but this little bit of color still makes it look more interesting. I'm going to finish up my weight painting before finishing the texturing.
As a side note, when is the best time to do ambient occlusion? Before I finish the textures or after?
It's coming along...I think the 4 stacked exhausts should cough up a nice flame when racing. Airbox/engine cover is the only thing left to model/unwrap, huzzah!
it's 4am, and this thing just ate the last 12 hours... I'm getting some sleep... what little of it I can get.
S_ource, how did you do that? i saw an old tut on how to do these but yours look SO much better and clean. Is it just from 2 attached cylinders? or an extruding cylinder? I'd love to know!!

Nice work! I didn't realize they had a new art test.

I like number 2 the best, and then number 4.
1 and 3 has too "sharp" in the welding.
working on the aston martin rapide highpoly, still lots of stuff to add/adjust. Wheels and rims are placeholder.

Jeez, when did you learn to model?
I made a sword to wait! (textures are crap/wip...anybody wanna mod with me? :poly124:)

@Cap Hotkill - Sweet details dude. Now what does it say about gaming in 2012?
It's coming along...I think the 4 stacked exhausts should cough up a nice flame when racing. Airbox/engine cover is the only thing left to model/unwrap, huzzah!
@Robat: It says that 2012 will be a great year for gaming!
