Heres my Finished Mutant bandit for this weeks theme. Il post a new theme on monday I guess.
Cool mutated bandits, guys. Heres my contribution in the nick of time. It was fun so I made several.
Amazing work people. The talent in this thread has pushed me to improve!
This weeks theme is: Decaying Elemental.
interpret it however you like
I'm soooo getting in on this:)
Decaying root Elemental:
Sweet Zen! Awesome Elemental! :P
Awesome Callesw and Allan
(btw, Allan, I think on that last one, it'd be cool to open up the view to the castle so you can see it more... give it some emphasis 8o )
Sketched this out before refining. Could use some critique; feel like I need it.
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Wip from me, still working on my Rotting Root Elemental
Erik: starts to look awesome
Moof: What Erik said ... knight and girl are fighting for attention, I think you need to make a choice who's more important. Maybe scale down the knight by a quarter and move him a bit to the right/down? You could also try to mirror him, make him look towards the girl? Anyways, I like the floating circle shapes from the background and above the girl's head, it matches the composition really well
A bit more work poured into this one, still wip ... i think :P
So, the knight is supposed to be like... giant and probably roboticish in nature, I have a feeling I need to sell that a lot more, maybe use some more circular shape language to have it sit better in the image.
I definitely agree Eric, about the relationship of the characters though; give them some purpose. I also see how they're fighting for attention. I think I'll play with the size and position of things are bit as you're suggesting zeno, see where that goes. I also wanted to play with maybe the girl has some control over the robot or something... maybe playing with the poses of both to get a little more energy going on...
um, yeah... anyways
Thnx again !
As for critiques man, hmmm, everything you touch is so beautious its hard to see past it :P, you've got an awesome composition that's easy to read to man! Jealous!
ZenoArt: Thanks man! Been trying to brush up on my colour theory and try out some analogous colour schemes.
A lil update after some suggestions made, this mostly addresses composition so far;
Also just fyi, I won't spam the thread with this, just wanted to do an update
[edit] I've been updating this pic off and on in the background, so it's changed quite a bit since I posted it. Consider this the 'current' whatever it is!
NP Moof, you use of the bloomy soft brush is always an awesome thing to behold, think the pic might work better now, maybe have the robot look in the same direction as the girl?
Zen, That Elemental Looks sweet!
Did a little on mine today but il post an update tomorrow I think, for now, heres a redesign and a sketch:
Now I need to find images of melting stuff before I can look at it again to figure out how to better render the body.
darkmag> I find I like using the smudge tool when I'm done rendering to melt stuff a bit. IT's pretty naturally built for that
Conte: why do I get the feeling that some crazy cool shit is going on in your head?
If I had a suggestion or critique though, it would be to have something to clearly focus on. I always like where you're hinting and taking my brain with your pics, but my eye begs for something to sit on and chew a little. Like the first guy, if you rendered the face a bit more, or in the 2nd... added a red thing? Lol I dunno, just something to think about
Erik and Zeno, both your elementals are looking very cool. I think I prefer the first version in both cases though.
The first version of the root elemental has some nice movement in the body, like its turning into the image center. The movement is quite lost in the second version, even though it is more well rendered with nice details.
I feel the same can be said for the fire elemental. I like the pose in the first but in the second it becomes hard to read, although the added atmospheric effects are nice.
Just my two cents. I take it both these were not quite finished yet.
Ill ad an environment concept I made recently so this isnt just a text post. Going for a creepy mood.
Have been away the entire weekend so haven´t had time to finish this, so much I wanna fix and redo, oh well maybe next week
Go Crazy!
...
@ErikNilsson - can`t even begin to explain how much I love this decaying elemental sketch of yours...

Need to get back into some sketching!
Here a black and white doodle....
