Hi everyone! Erik forced me to join. I'm waaaay too self conscious about my stuff currently, but I promise to start posting here very soonish. You guys make amazing stuff! ;__;
Since I don't really have anything right now, enjoy one of my many croquis pages.
Yeah it was a crazy fun one to do. I just picked a few colors I liked and worked it all around until I got the shapes I wanted. Then I just fixed the contrast and values with some color balance and hue - saturation adjustment layers.
Good to see everyone's active! Some new faces as well, hello, hello! Still sketching, just forgot to upload. So here's a bunch of uploads for the last couple days!
Worked on a quick portrait for class. HR Giger inspired with some Alien touches. Didn't turn out quite how I wanted it to but it was late and I didn't want to sacrifice precious sleep to keep working on it. I'm quite satisfied for a first try. I really have to practice more on concept and just running wild with shapes and stuff. But I've gotten way more used to blocking in colors and working without lineart
I paint at a much higher resolution. Around 2000px width and height. And then crop according to actual image size. And I also shrink the picture a bit and lower the quality so it loads faster on the net or it will take forever to load for those will a slower connection
Really nice stuff everybody! Im way impressed with all the creativity ^^
Awesome chair Twoflower!
Cool thumbs keres, altough you could go more crazy with the shapes, start with the legs instead and see what kind of body you end up with. Do different sized and lengths on the legs, go crazy
Pisciel: That giger work turnd out pretty damn neat! ;O
Awesome work everyone! I was not able to post much but I was watching this thread every day. You guys are improving so much! I'll fall behind eh. I've been away on vacations and settling back to school so I didn't have much time for uploading stuff. Hopefully I'll be able to get back to this thread regularly again.
Started today with some doodling and this is what came out so far. I kind of lke the idea, so I'll try to go for a finished piece. I'm not quite sure about the composition yet, but I have a very specific color-palette in mind.
great to have you back aleon! cool piece think you could throw in some cool looking mountain or fantasy castle/structure in the background. looking forward to the finished piece ^^
Nice stuff TF, those thumbs look damn fine. I love the characters and the colors for you as always aiconx. I also dig the organic mecha sketches there Erik.
Derp I'm still playing around with the same pic. I can't seem to be able to get past the thumb concept...
It doesn't look like you would have any brushes to do that :P You seem to have a polished illustrative style whereas I need them for quick rough concepting
Frell I think you can easily make your own brushes for that. For rocks and foliage just get a texture, crank the contrast to heavens, then chip the edges off and create a custom brush. (Scattering, etc as you like) For bricks I think you would be better off using a texture overlay.
No digital from me yet. Have been drawing a lot on A2 sized paper recently tho... Still no idea how to digitalize them sadly. I think I need a camera.
Have been struggeling with edge control especially with hard edges. tried out lasso tool today and im soooo gonna start incorporating it into my workflow

My old bamboo fun died on my, with smoke and everything. So I'll stick to traditional with mouse touchups in photoshop for the weekends for now
Day 1:
I'm learning how to paint right now. The rocks, for my level of creativity, actually turned out rather well I think I used mah sphere painting skillz!
Since I don't really have anything right now, enjoy one of my many croquis pages.
The shading on those rocks look pretty good keres, try some more irregular shapes for the mountains in the back to make them look more interesting
my left hand stuff often turns out more dynamic than my right hand stuff
Been slacking on the uploading part

The poses were very fun.

looking good guys!
I revisited my mountain painting to get some shading practice. Hopefully that is allowed
Do you guys paint at these low resolutions, or do you scale them down before posting?
I scale down too
The mountains look much better that way
