worked on these for about eight weeks, the bulk of the work was done in two weeks and one of the scenes (the one with the fountain) took two days. some textures are stand ins. some need tweaking. more props incoming. would love some feedback on these!
jesus christ it's been so long since i've made anything without strict guidelines its really strange and this engine is strange but cool and i really need to get back to making money now
also here's a max shot showing how completely crazy the texture saturation needs to be in order to get the above result in cryengine (plus it looks pretty cool)
Pac_187, that's some crazy detail, I love it! (a bit unproductive for ingame, but perfect for portfolio)
Racer445, Sharp reflection on the handguard really catch my eye, pretty nice. Isn't the game undersaturated in post or something or it's a general "feature" of cryengine?
Finally got to dirt and dust in MudBox. I think I'm getting the hang of it but I'm kinda bummed I can't edit alphas (stencils and stamps) from existing photos as easily as I can in ZBrush. Sorry for the multiple views ..just wondering how it looks in different packages.
Current cross-post from my Banjo-Kazooie thread:
I'd like to think it's in a more presentable state now
Aside from the obvious changes, I also added a very subtle variation on the sobel edge detection around objects. Essentially making the lines just a slightly darker hue of the colour behind it.
It just makes things 'pop' a bit more and i think it suites the haindpainted style.
There is also a "Mario Galaxy style" effect on objects where they have a soft fresnel outline.
@Ahtiandr, I like the look of the fur on the fox although it does look a little flat. I think maknig the fur stand up a bit more will add some volume to it and it will give a nicer silhoutte to the character. It will also make his shoulders look broader giving him a feeling of strength/power.
I was thinking to make two shots of this set. One with open helmet and head inside. The other is closed adn the eyes are glowing. Maybe the eyes should be mroe realistic coz now they are jsut two painted dots
So I decided to take a break from my huntress character and spent a couple days on a texture for MoP's goblin
T'was fun. Couldn't be arsed to finish the back though. Wish I recorded this...oh well.
JFletcher - i hate you for being so incredibly great
sorry! i mean coz you didn't record this
epic work! just like always! you're just inimitabl, especially awsome..
Cross-post to my thread, space dive 2030. Working on textures. 2500 tris, 1024 diffuse map, saved some UV space for the head but I wanted to do some texturing really badly last night.
Epic work in here as always! Really cool-looking mech, fightpunch. Seriously, ALL you guys have stellar workmanship.
You might remember this from the ArenaNet art test from forever ago. Well, I picked her back up after a long abandonment, and now I'm "brushing" up on my texture painting skills. Any feedback is welcome.

SERIOUSLY RAD! Such an interesting inspirational style, I could look at this all day.
Next up: Bipod, Scope and maybe a strap, as well as welding seams for detail. That should turn it into a HK G3-SG1 :P

Here's a character i've been working on the last 2 weeks on my spare time Some work left, but it's getting there!
This is the best thing I have ever seen, my jaw dropped when I saw it! So so good!
Haha the WA license plates are so damn distinctive :P
