I think the best way is to start just drawing a lot of stuff that you just enjoy drawing, to keep going and feeling that what you do is getting somewhere.
Then, it's nice to start studying the perspective from 1 point, to 2 point and 3 point perspective. Just take it from the beggining and I'm sure you'll get a hang of it Make suret to check youtube for a lot of awesome tutorials on perspective drawing!
Making studies from photo is of course also a really great way of learning a lot of stuff!:)

it really depends on what I'm painting. I tend to use color right from the start on most of my stuff lately though.
These last black and white and purely facial shape and anatomy study, so I didn't bother mixing in color in them
new character!
Damn I love drawing characters This is possibly going to be made in 3D for the Mixamo contest as well! I need to make something with him so that he's more then an ordinary cosmonaut.
Discovered you on deviantart a while ago. 'Tis beauntifous to find you here! Love your crisp, blended style, especially digging the half lifey one with all the film noir blinds goin on.
Cool knight dude bro-man Critique-wise I want to say that it seems like some parts lacks a contact shadow, or ao if you so like. I'm talking about the armor part on his shoulder. Also the color on the gloves seem a bit to obviously overlay'ed :P
Face it great, specially the eye part ^^
I totally see what you mean with the ao thing, Jim, good pointer!
It's weird with the glove. It's all painted with "normal" layer mode, but when you mention it, it sort of looks overlay'ed :P
Thanks for the feedback! Always appreciated
Here's a new character! Got tired of it, didn't really like where it was heading, but decided to get it to a sort of finished level anyway
I really like them both! The face on the top image is great, could maybe stand to lose either the nostril plugs or the chin plug though as her face looks a bit busy with both.
Nice polish on that girl warrior, man ^^ Like the colors as well. My only beef with it is't that the light on the character seems pretty diffuse, but the shadow suggest otherwise.
also made this over a weekend while on vacation!:)
Some stuff that looks crappy that I probably should've fixed, but I'll let it rest for now. Maybe later some day!
thanks for the feedback duuude!:) Nice stuff to consider for the next couple of environments.
Thinking about fixing some stuff on the well at some point. Maybe next portfolio update or something.
Pretty solid stuff here overall. I particularly like the metal rendering on the redneck speeder.
The bull race lacks motion I think, not exactly sure what's the cause but I'll give it a stab. There's no dust cloud/trail behind the bull and the legs are too obscured not communicating the leaping pose enough. Some stronger foreshortening would probably help a lot as well, so that the front-most guy is much closer to the viewer, making it so that you feel like you're part of the action.
Adding a smoke trail on the little flying vehicle would enhance movement a lot.
Spend some more time on that skull study, it's all about learning anyway.
Again, very nice works overall. Hope my little crits gave you anything. Keep up the good work.
Digging the light and the way you made the brightest areas highest in saturation, makes it really intense. I particularly like the top one.
Would be nice to see them refined of course but heck not everything's worth finishing. The experience will move on to aid the new stuff anyway. For instance I can see that late afternoon sunlight fitting perfectly for more epic spaces, like inside a cathedral or some other large structure.
Hey! Ye, I kinda liked the lighting on the first one as well actually but the rest of the image was sort of "meh". Might try to make something larger like you said, with the same kinda mood! Would be interesting.
Once again, thanks for the feedback!:) Always really great to hear.
Time to post something here again.

Here's a character I'm texturing while trying out marmoset toolbag 2.

Here's a new one! Sort of static, but whateva. Gonna make it more interesting in the next one I hope!:)
Yes AbKI, I agree, I may have gone a bit over the top >>
I actually worked on mr space man recently! may even finish it! haha
Here's a couple of rather quick studies;
And thanks for the feedback Jim! you're right, I guess I rushed it a bit at the end hehe.
here's two new fairly quick environments!
Some stuff that looks crappy that I probably should've fixed, but I'll let it rest for now. Maybe later some day!
First 3D thingy I've done at home for a while.
Forest has some cool foliage brushes going and that well is just damn pretty! However, the wooden board doesn't really pull of the wood feel imo.

Here's a redneck speeder bike thing!:)
Here's a new darker piece. A futuristic version of the pamplona bull race.

Here's 2 unfinished environments that won't probably get finished any time soon at least >>
