Been working on stylised rock textures again. Still not quite there. Modelling them is easy its just the texturing I can't quite find the right technique. it didn't help that I was lazy on the unwrap... Tell me what you think =D
DUDE! You have no idea how extremely badass those faces are! You've done a really good job converting those to 3D! I tried modelling one of the Tiki statues from the road to nowhere level with Blender, but I suck at texturing. XD I only started texturing a few bricks on the side but haven't gotten around to finishing it lol.
If you want, you can have the model and retexture it, because you seem to really have a strong understanding of hand-painted texture techniques.
Also if you don't mind me asking, where did you learn to texture? Any good tutorials you might recommend?
But anyway I really love how you used the exaggerated art style that was intended for crash, while staying true to the style of the first (and best) game. Also the texture on that rock looks cool in my opinion, it looks like it has a lighting.
thanks for the feedback guys its nice to know I'm on the right track =P
minorthreat: thanks for the offer but most of the models that I need are actually done now. If you would like I could make a video going over my texturing process?
Alright I will try and remember to record the screen when I do my next texture =P In the mean time I have set up a facebook page if anyone wants to follow go ahead and click that link =D http://www.facebook.com/CrashBandicootHD
As a big fan of this game I'm really happy to see someone working on recreating it, and the result so far is very good.
I've one suggestion (as my technical knowledge is very basic), the original game was more saturated in colours, for example the sand texture look a little bit too pale, imho.
thanks for the critique SonicBlue =D I was thinking of just being lazy and adjusting the saturation in UDK post process =P
RogelioD did you recently have some kind eye surgery? that would probably it, that or the fact I don't post as often as I should... I'm sticking with eye surgery.
Aside from that sand texture being stretched on that slope towards the right of the image, this screenshot is beautiful! I love the crab! I really enjoy the placement of the objects, how they're all lop-sided and leaning on eachother and facing in random directions, it gives it a really natural vibe I guess. Also I can't wait to see the revanmped 3d texture for those evil baboon pillars. XD
thanks! I try to find work on it when I can but I have a lot of other projects that I have to work on and this is more of a spare time thing, I will try and post some updates soon though.
Haven't had much of a chance to work on this but I have done some of the menu and game setup. No new art I'm afraid.

Nice to see more updates, I've been checking up on this thread for a while! XD I actually thought you had given up on the project, but of coarse these kind of things are hard to stay focused on.
it's just finding time to work on it, but I normally do this. I leave the project for a while and then come back and reel back in horror at how bad my art used to be.
Done some more filling in of the surrounding today. I keep coming back o this and want to redo things but I'm going to restrain myself until everything is in. =P

its kinda hard to grasp the scale of this just seeing pieces of it.
any chance of an overview or flythrough?
Hey that shadow at the bottom of your mushrooms look great. Like to see more of it. Did you take that texture look into Photoshop?
