I still prefer the pigtails of the previous version (without the ribbons) but I love the rest of this design and the headphones sit really well with her too. Great work man!
Besides the hair (imo) it's a vast improveent on your original model.
You know, upon taking another look, I feel like her nose is a little bit off. The alar flat is tapering into her nostrils a bit too sharply and abruptly. Kinda gives her a dog nose.
Thanks for all the good words guys - really appreciate it!
Not much of an update, got the headphones, hair and pauldrons in - JUST started on the suit, so its all crappy atm, got the shapes all masked out just need to to extract and retopo them to really make it pop.
I'm aware shes lost some thickness in her thighs once I subdivided, but dont worry I'll fix that for sure
Got to get this finished by this coming weekend, So I can get a good couple weeks to texture!
Wow man she looks great.
The hair looks fantastic!
She definitely needs that thickness back in her thighs, i know that will be easily fixed!
Looking forward to the next update man!
Looks really awesome. Are you planning to add more machine bits on the legs too? I think it might be a good idea to since the upper body may end up feeling too heavy in comparison. Just a thought though.
I think I see something wrong with her boobs - can we get a close-up shot? lol im kidding..\
hazardous your character is mmamazin - cant wait till its finished so i can put more work from you in my inspirational folder - are you modellin this in maya? or 3dsmax random question
Thanks dudes, sorry not much updates - but little by little.. adding bits and pieces. bring on easter weekend man!!
Scudz: Thanks man, aout the chinese factor - im torn on it tbh, i could go totally asian face, but part of me really likes disploring new takes without hopefully destroying the chun like everyone knows and loves. Maybe I should to keep it more classically chun li...... cant decide, will see what happens lol!
Vmax: Are you pimpin links to your model in my wip thread? I'll charge you 1000 polycount dollars for every hit!
Gav: Why you got to bring pictures of me in this thread dude I thought we talked about this!
Kosh: Nah man I will keep her legs pretty clean I think, will see how it looks - you never know!
JungSik: THere is something wrong with her boobs actually man haha, i will fix up the suit once I get to sculpting the suit proper! Im building her in Max & zbrush. Mostly max so far
This one has been really well done from the start. (Well, since the redesign, anyway :P) I hope you have a lot of time to work over Easter and push to get the details finished. It's definitely a strong contender for 1st, keep it up!
This is amazing work as usual, Her face is perfect can I ask how you did her face? Is that all modeled with a render + paint over, or zbrush with basic texture?
Hey there man, like where you're going with this. One thing's sticking out at me in this last image, though. Seems like you've got her pelvis pretty high. Top of her hip bones look like they're about where her last few ribs would probably be, and such.
Here's a quick liquify to hopefully illustrate some small suggestions. (I didn't worry about the thickness of the legs, could probably widen/thicken them up more than I worried about here!)
Tried to lower the hips a bit, lowered the crotch a bit, and also lessened the gap width-ways for her crotch. With her legs especially I don't imagine you'll have such a big empty space.
I'd also like to see maybe a little more thought as to how her braids wind up attaching to those rings. You'd think there'd be a sort of knot or hair remnants that actually tie the braid to them, especially with as thick as the braids still are down at the end. That might be coming later though and was something you'd already planned on, not sure.
Looking good as a whole. Really like where you went with the face.
hey jon, great progress. seems like you are hitting a new personal quality level with this character. like the design with these round elements very much and the face looks great. maybe a bit too sweet with those soft speculars and color nuances - the overall impression could be a bit tougher
what could need some more love are her boots. a bit boring and bulky....she is fast and powerful. with these bulky boots i don't think she could move very elegant. i would taper the form to the tip and try to include some of the round elements for a more consistent look.
i don't think her hips should sit lower. i like her exxegerated proportions, her small chest and the big hip area. i would just position her crotch as Two Listen mentioned.
proportions remind me a bit of the nude model aria giovanni. maybe it helps you for some proportional things even the progress is beyond that.
cool stuff hazardous :poly124:,
personnaly i like the large crotch thing, just need some nice folds and anatomical details around it :poly142: !
the only crit i have is for the cloth pattern, i would imagine something more chinese and round like on your previous designs.
hey this is coming out awesome! I like the design. I agree with what two listen said but other than that it's flawless. I'm excited to see what the legs look like done. I also like the simplicity in the hip area, and the details in other. Very clean design.
Jfletcher: I quite like the whole wide gap between the legs man looks even better if theres still a big gap when the legs are closed together
Jacque: Not much bro!! parts of the suit mostly, the hands, the face / hair etc.
Ron.S: thanks man, its a render of my polypainting in zbrush, I added the wetness in the eyes in Photoshop though. I generally do that to give myself a sense for what the final face might look like, ive become accutely aware of the fact that a female face in 3d model form can take on drastic changes of appearance once those forms are textured - so trying to tie that all in early to set my target and whther im on the right track or not
Two Listen: thanks for that paintover bro I appreciate that! I did a bit of tweaking but not much - I know the torso is short, its my own style choice more than anything. I like the look of ribcage running straight into hips instead of a more realistic depiction where theres a longer straighter in/between section like your image is heading towards! Still thanks again man!
MF: Thanks man, appreciate the thoughts, have run out of time to redo boots , But I agree with your points! Ill pay more attention next time! Dude we should chat again sometime!
Jocz: Thanks!!! The cloth pattern was a tricky one for me... I still might switch it - will see how I feel while retopo'ing hhaha!!
I think I love 3dcoat man, first time using it, its genius!! Though ive discovered some issues - dont use shelled meshes otherwise using the stroke method to lay down blocks of polygons for arms, legs etc will get all confused and either wont draw anything or draw a flat square - about as handy as tits on a bull.
Single sided meshes work just dandy!
Couple hours so far, going to stitch together all the tidbits in max and unwrap!
Speaking of tits! I have a technical question: I noticed you originally modeled the breasts with radial geometry, but now you've re-topo'd them using a grid layout. What was the reasoning behind this? Does either style deform better then the other? (Sorry, if this is an extremely noobish question, hehe.)
Really amazing work anyway. I'm especially in awe of the face!
Wex: Good question man!! Totally not a n00b question at all! My original base mesh did have the radial thing going on - This is the first time I've ever done a breast section like this - purely for testing exactly what youre thinking. Im curious to see if i can get just as good of a result like this than i would using the radial versions ( this is much lower poly ) I might even try to get some boob wiggle going on in the rig when I get there!

doesn't look chinese at all, but gorgeous.

I think the gap in between the legs is a bit too wide though. (sorry if it's been mentioned)
So slick!
BTW, what did you actually Zbrush aside from the face and fingernails?
:O Is it all hard surfaced?

ha ha sweeeeet thing
I'm agree with Two Listen about the hip shapes. It looks more natural.
