Hi all,
new user, been doing 3d some years, got interested about game stuff some months ago..
long story short, here's something I'm working on atm and planning to exercise with them more about game art workflow.
Comments & critics always welcome!

edit:forgot to mention that concepts are not mine!
Starting up my next scene ever so slowly. This is a WIP of one of the first props. Taking what I have learned from my labscene etc and applying that on highend-specs instead of lowend...
His muscles look like balloons, TheDarkKnight, and Bane (at least the movie version) is more bulky than ripped
Yeah I've made him a little more ripped then the movie version, might tone it down a bit, not sure yet, wanted something that represented the movie version, not a complete replica.
Might keep it like this with some muscle refinement or go for that bulky look, not sure yet
treasure chest concept I doodled on x-mas ...Im going to drop the skull to be in the middle point instead of resting above it. I'll make it in 3D later on in the next week or 2.
This is pretty cool, man. I hope you don't mind, I made a quick zbrush version of this concept. The result it's not so cool as yours, but it was a good practice.
epic thread is epic.....wanted to get one l;ast piece into the Waywo for this year.....spent the morning playing with dynamesh...I think that I am getting the hang of it slowly....but bloody hell is it fun!!
EDIT** did a bit more to him and updated the picture rather than posting again ....lower arms need much love looking at this.

of course I dont mind. Glad someone liked it enough to actually make it.
Since you went out of your way I will gives you a few rule of thumb. pay closer attention for the highlights are it can tell you where sharp corners will meet etc.
In example I made the concept that it had sharp Angles infact my chest wasnt very round at all, it had almost 45 degree cuts on it, front plank was a flat piece of wood where as the 2 above it would have been 45 degrees on a sloop to the dead center, and then the same would have been opposite. Then you could have defined your metal trims based on the angle of the wood or vice versa.
Also your skull is GREATLY detailed, but since the concept really calls for chunky forms it looks a bit odd when you see it hyper detailed such as that. Finally the wood suffers from the same issues as being hyper detailed...to sculpt that kinda stylized wood, the best 2 brushes you can use are slash (with a lower setting) and trim dynamic, I sometimes will use a quick clay tubes/clay to rise the woods up and down to give some variance.
Anywho I hope this wall of text makes enough sense as it did in my head.
Great tips. In fact, I wasn't trying to be super accurate to your concept, so I was a bit lazy about the edges. The skull wasn't modeled to me, I just grab one already done that I found on web. Wood isn't detailed in fact, this is color bump from Zbrush material.
But as I want to learn modeling properly, I'm goingo to make another version of this chest, trying to be more faithful. When it's done, I'll post here.
Working on the concept for a new character, inspired by Greek politicians, many of whom we refer to as "kareklokentavri". It means armchair-centaur, both because of their bureaucratic idiocy and also because they love their chair so much they never want to leave it. Hence the hind legs. He's also really really fat, like a few actual persons in our parliament.
this shark man is a million years old! show me some new stuff bro!
Also I think you could define his muscles a bit more even though you may not see it under his clothes.
First Digi Paint with Photoshop
Basic yes but im proud of my self. I actually did it instead of sleeping!
Gona do a Cone then a Cube next THEN a Icosahedron
Now someone help me out. Why does the sphere look like its still floating and not on the floor?!?
Pretty cool, man. The shadow it's too big and soft. It could be darker just at the bottom of the ball and lighter elsewhere, where ambient light is hiting.
I made these studies this year:
And here are the PSDs. I believe they will be helpful to you.

Im not an expert on this but i think you should have harder shadow, and on just one side of the sphere and not so dark ambient shadow under the sphere.
Not done but I'm following a high poly modeling tutorial on 3D Motive and building this monstrosity as I go. Just sort of a random assortment of things but I think I'm going to try and finish this up over the next day or so with at least a few bakes to make it look nice in UDK.
a study from a TF2 comic panel! the main purpose here was to understand colour, lighting and line weight in 2D. my painting technique in PS could use some work too. any tips/tools suggestions?
You're definitely right about all these. One of my problems is that I need to be a little more daring with the skin colors I choose. It seems like whenever I need to paint skin, I'm immediately afraid of going overboard and I end up pulling my punches.
Anyway, I'd absolutely love a paintover if you get the time.
didn't have much time and i'm not on my machine so colours maybe a bit off, can't say from this laptop, i think for his age the eyebrows could also be a bit more bushy, but i'm not really happy with the result, but i gotta go, so hope it helps
Working on two projects atm, ready for relaunching my portfolio site in a few weeks. The first is a sci fi pistol with some art deco elements, which I started as part of a cgsociety workshop in the summer. Currently working on the textures.
The second is resurecting a project i started ages ago based off of the pick up trucks from Dictrict 9. Ive just started the Diffuse on this one so still along way to go:

I don't suppose anyone could give me a few pointers on creating the hair?

Don't know which direction to take/where to go next =(
Maybe something more blocky?
Excuse my shitty drawing skills but it hopefully gets the point across.

This is amazing! Did you make it up or use a concept? It looks awesome!

I'd like that as my office chair please

Thanks man!
The gun is pretty large, tried to tuck it in under coat, or to the side over coat... Just don't see how it'll work without tons of clipping.
He's an adventurer, so he needs his tools and a gun. Right now i think this is the best spot. Made his pack wider to compensate visually.

His arms are very short, most people's will come down to the waist at least and some even lower to the thighs/knees.

Should probably change the normal detail of the grip. It also appears that I have made it a bit too long.
Something I caught the bug to do over Christmas. I need to start working bigger.
Many thanks to you both! i repainted and it looks much better
And now i think im going to set up basic objects on my desk and pain them to further my understanding of shadows
Digital Painting is to fun! My art teachers never let us really paint in elementary/Middle school... F****** Crayola markers took over the scene
Did this a few days ago, guess it turned out alright?
amazing stuff this year in the WAYWO thread!
any ideas on the bottom of the robe?
