I wish we'd hear more on the PS3 Portal version and how it comes with a free download for the pc version... they seem to have gone quiet on that. Wouldnt mind a special edition either.
Depends on what you expect. I mean, for me, it's one of the best FPS I've played in the past 2 years. Great atmosphere, nice story, beautiful graphics and a setting that has never been so interesting before(exept for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.).
There should be a few gameplay scenes out on the internet. If you like it, then buy it, I definitely recommend this game!
(the book is very interesting, too!)
edit: Check the prices on Amazon first. The retail of Metro 2033 is very cheap and I think it supports Steam due to DRM, too.
@ Kovac I think it doesn't really matter where you buy it because you're forced to activate it on steam(DRM) - just like e.g. Darksiders.
So, this Steam sale isn't as cheap as it seems to be, I guess.
GET METRO 2033. Then get the book, book is of course better storywise but the game is dripping with atmosphere and very nice texturework and visuals in general.
Whole bunch of games, but Mass Effect 2 is $4.99, WTF?!
Awesome sales. But... hang on. Mass effect 2 in the UK is £4.99. When did steam decide the US dollar is the same as Pound sterling. Steam prices are usually correct to the exchange rate (£1 = $1.5). I wonder if this is happening wih more expensive games as well?
Hmmm...not happy.
EDIT: Looked into it a bit. Most of the stuff i'm finding is dated back 2008. But, I was sure I was buying stuff at the correct exchange rate as recent as the last steam sales (beginning of summer, I think). Anyhoo. Found this which compares prices. So not all prices are the same in US and UK. I'm not really fussed when your talking about a few quid but I'll be more wary and shop around when buying the more expensive games.
The steam prices are almost always bad. We have huge differences between countries, for that reason i prefer to buy the steamworks games in shops like play.com or zavvi.com.
But at least, sometimes the games are cheaper in the eu zone (€).
We can use a proxy and buy the games with the browser.
I just bought Quake 3 + Team Arena. Even though the Q3 demo worked fine, the full games return to desktop after the console window and a white screen Already contacted Steam support but any help is appreciated.
I finished Cave Story on the wii, what's the difference with Cave Story+?
To be honest...
Nothing really. There is a mode in which you can play as curly though and some time attack stuff.
It looks like they put a hqx filter on everything. Looking at the way its files are setup I do see a potential for addons. User made addons even.
I just got both serious sam hd's and the entire gta library for 15bucks.
I now have 89 games in my library, 15 installed, and about 6 that i've actually had time to play...

Yeah the local currencies hardly ever make any sense.
Anyway, if you people have twitter and prefer checking that rather than the real site, you can follow @topsteamdeals. https://twitter.com/#!/TopSteamDeals
Every day all 12 daily deals get posted with their discounts, and prices in € $ and £.
These aren't exactly deals on Steam, they're just games at their correct price elsewhere...
I know this isn't new but it's funny to see the amount of deception going on just because it's a digital copy that you get to your computer straight away.
Hell, all three of those games are steamworks games anyway so you'd end up having them on steam plus a physical copy, which is exactly what I'll do. Still, might grab Sanctum.
This goes back to my argument about EA having the right to push Origin (while it does kinda suck) as Valve has too much dominance over the digital market to pull these kind of prices without consequence. Meanwhile everyone adores them for offering overpriced games.
Still love Steam though, just think they need some competition though, eh?

For me, Steam isn't the place to buy new AAA games or ones that are about 1 year old, it's a place to buy awesome indie/smaller games
Ones like Bastion, Magicka, Super Meat Boy, Limbo and Orcs Must Die
And the prices for these kind of games are always very fair.
Today they have Rage for $30. I was pretty amazed, as it was $60 just not long ago. But going to Amazon, guess what? Exact same price. And Amazon gives free shipping too. So you get the disc and box for exactly the same price...
Edit:
Although it seems to still be $60 on EBGames. So it's still worth it, especially if you want to integrate it into Steam.

same here . I use steam to buy games for around 5 euros a piece, where they would normally be something like 20. I don't really want to spend too much time playing games, nor do I have the money available (or feel morally uninhibited enough) to play AAA games.
I dunno if this has been mentioned, but they are suppose to be "1 day sales"... but dungeon defenders is no longer on that 1 day sale, and is still half price, and it says its on sale for awhile and is apart of the seasonal sale. So if you missed a game that you see people talking about, check it out anyways to see if its still on sale.

Games on the front page daily sale are usually at a better sale than otherwise though, so a game that was -75% on the daily might go back to -50%
Fear 1 for 4.99
Fear 2 for 7.49
and Fear 3 is for 19.99....
Now thats just torturing.
EDIT: I just reminded myself that this BS is going to be up for another few months and when the sales session is done, these games are going to be the same price as they are right now.....
So....Good luck guys. For me Fear series will have to wait. <.<
The Steam sales are nuts. I've got 10 games I've bought on Steam that I'm waiting to get through. I think I will eventually but I also like playing World of Tanks a lot (never ending) and have 3 games to get through on Desura as well. Need more time! Ah well at least I don't have kids yet.

Think I got some catching up as well..

The dx11 effects are super cool!

Still thinking about getting Costume Quest and Blocks That Matter.

Thanks for the info tho.

Oh and it supports mac. That's cool I guess.

damn you steam.
damn you right up hells-hairy-asshole
I'm pretty sure steam hasn't been accurate with the exchange rate for quite some time.
If you want to see ridiculous though, have a look at buying mudbox online from the UK and the US and workout the difference.

THANK YOU MAN, I've been resisting soo to give in to buy games at a very cheap price from steam, even than I bought like 4 games so far..
I'll remind this portion of your post to myself when I have a craving to buy another game. I got soo many games now.
