Stannis was doint something ? He was standing in the corner grinning... Smuggler dude was doing stuff. Stannis doesn't have a clue. He wants the throne but has no idea how to do it (except magic).
I don't know, I always got the same feeling from stannis in the books as others here have for show stannis. He always seems trapped between mellisandre and davos, but always feels like he's too paralyzed by indecision to move.
Arguably the first time he really starts to do anything but hide in his fort is book 5, but his action then it's still hard to tell what his motivation is beyond "this person told me if I did this I might become king", and even with that situation it's impossible to tell whether he is doing it because mellisandre told him to do it, or because Davos told him - but we know it wasn't his own idea.
Granted, the thing he goes to do is pretty bad-ass, but it doesn't really have his fingerprints on it.
Hey all kings need advisors,
and Davos was right Stannis is the only person after Tywin is gone that won't cause the kingdom to collapse.
Dany, Great as she is at waging war is showing to be way too rash and easily stressed to lead her city of problems she caused herself!!!
But you can't say he is the only one being able to properly rule from what show shows you. From what I saw in the show he is ruling in some dark castle with a help of a witch... I don't even know what is there except for the castle. Maybe what he owns is only the castle and few rocks around it... ? Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention but I have no idea what Stannis owns now and how well does he rule. From the last episode I gathered that he is not able to feed and maintain his army after the last battle. I saw sad place where people are being burned alive.
Maybe I just didn't pay attention though. Show doesn't portray him as interesting guy. Davos seems like a waaaaay more interesting person.
Best thing in the episode is blonde Targeyron (hotness), realising that she's from a privileged family that has done exactly the same thing, as the nobles that she pinned to posts. Not read the books, but the way the series started was - her and her brother trying to claim land for the fam.
But you can't say he is the only one being able to properly rule from what show shows you. ... Show doesn't portray him as interesting guy.
I don't think he was ever meant to be either. Despite being next in line after Robert Baratheon, he really has as much right to the throne as anyone else currently reaching for it. He's cold and boring to the point where many favored his younger brothers over him, and half his current men are referred to as the Queen's men (being more loyal to the idea of R'hllor/Azor Ahai than they are House Baratheon).
What the hell was Gregor Clegane doing in the last episode? He's just hanging out back behind the castle, with a big lineup of schmucks ready to gutted. It's like his daily chores or something. "Sir Clegane, we have peasants to attend to. Make sure you wash up before you come to lunch!"

Yeah that is what I was wondering as well. We haven't seen the Mountain since season 1 was it?
Guess they just wanted to show us he was a giant asshole
looking forward to the trial by combat in a couple of weeks, if its done as the books do it its going to be amazing. i have noticed they are changing a lot of stuff though.
little bit peeved about the lack of "only Cat"

There was a line when Cersei was walking up that was basically "Thanks for getting here on such short notice." Cersei asked him to come to King's Landing.
I usually don't watch the 'next on' segments at the end, but snuck a peak after this week's episode. They showed a clip of a fight, and it looked like Dark Souls. excited!
trying to keep track but there are so many names to remember, is the hound and arya heading to the aunts place that sansa is at?
Yep.
While we're on remembering things that may or may not have happened at some undetermined point in the series, that daughter of Cerci's that is living with Oberyn Martell's family. Did she appear at any point in the series?
She shows up several times earlier in the series, but only ever has very small speaking roles.
I was wondering how they would handle the fight between Oberyn and the Mountain. Wow. That got really, really dark. It's pretty greusome in the books as well, but the actors in the show really sold it. Honestly. I like a little gore in my entertainment, and even I found that more than a little hard to watch. They did not hold back on that one. Whooof.
They've got a few more events to tie up in the next two episodes, but I think they are on track to handle it.
I'm not sure they have another whole season worth of material to cover, maybe just. Martin better start scribbling fast.
A few characters are close to approaching where they are in A Dance With Dragons. But most characters still have more than two massive book's worth of material left, and there are still even further characters that have not been introduced either. If they can make ASOS last this long, they can drag out the next two books into four more seasons if they really wanted.
No I believe this season will wrap up book 3.
Still 2 books worth of material left and hopefully the sixth book will have come out by the time they catch up to the fifth.
Although I'm wondering if the show will end the story before the last book has a chance to come out or the show will wait for it.
I was pretty sure that where it was headed, but yeesh. not quite like that.
I thought he might nail Circe with the spear before it happened. It seems like she's at a point in her arc where she's not having much in the way of impact alive as she might if she was to be suddenly assassinated. Once the business with Tyrion plays out, I'm predicting she's not going to be around much longer
Someone should have watched the Incredibles before going into that fight.
Lucius: [Bob and Lucius are sitting in a parked car, reminiscing] So now I'm in deep trouble. I mean, one more jolt of this death ray and I'm an epitaph. Somehow I manage to find cover and what does Baron von Ruthless do?
Bob: [laughing] He starts monologuing.
Lucius: He starts monologuing! He starts like, this prepared speech about how *feeble* I am compared to him, how *inevitable* my defeat is, how *the world* *will soon* *be his*, yadda yadda yadda.
Bob: Yammering.
Lucius: Yammering! I mean, the guy has me on a platter and he won't shut up!
The show is handling wrapping up book 3, with bits and pieces sourced from Book 4 & 5 to keep certain character's arc present in the show. Book 4 hasn't been touched too much yet, and with that they have a lot of material to cover. GRMM has "slated" Book 6 to release in 2015, so if it does happen, that would work to give HBO more content (Season 5/6 would handle 4/5, and give GRRM time to get the final book out)>
Every time I think "OK, I can see how this is going to play out. You're not going to shock me this time", they pull out something like that.
I'm having a slightly different reaction, in that I haven't been surprised by anything that's happened this season, but I've still been shocked by it.
That fight in particular was just blindingly obvious that one of them would go down but not for real, and then they dragged it out just long enough to get a "mayyyyyyybe he's really dea* nope .... ohshithisheadjustlikeagrape!!!!!!"

edit: That was really weird. I dunno why that link showed up. That should be right
what?

This guy looks so cuddly, like a gentle giant. The first actor looked like a crazy person, which was awesome.
I'm looking forward to next week's episode
Edit:: ahh.. they changed actors. That explains it
This is the 3rd actor. They change him every season practically.
i cant even feasibly imagine that size. mental.

Damn that is a fucking large man.

Shit, and when you think you can handle anything GoT can throw at you . XD
