@Hideous
so does eating a bible make him immune to vampire bites or something? i wonder if that would make an appropriate melee weapon for a vampire hunter
Working on a spy crab set for Halloween, this is an early knife I'm working on, Can I get some crits? I like the claw and the (knuckle?) of the knife but I feel the handle is both bare & thin. anyone have suggestions on what to do to spruce it up?
@Bopoe
Maybe have some modelled Cloth wrapped around? This would be something I would laugh about if it got in. Just the thought of the Spy holding a giant crab claw is hilarious.
@Hideous in case he didn't see it on the last message on the last page
You should have it as a Jarate Replacement, and and instead of water droplets, a Cross
If you have the crab claw come up to an elbow and add an nice speckled gradient texture, the knife should be fine. It's not like the handle is seen all that much.
Your point is one of the most valid logic i've ever received. I appreciate that greatly. Sadly, it's really hard, if not even enigmatic, to see which direction Valve wants to take engineer. They have outright said that one of the hardest things to implement in the game is an engineer building. As much as i want to make a unique engineer building in consideration of Valve's preferences, i do think i'm not ready yet to make a dedicated, stand alone building. Be sure to expect me to dive into that field in the future though since i have practically tried every other option for the engineer.
This new set though is meant to complement the engineer more, true. But the main hook of this is the modularity of the mount on the back. The backpack is suppose to use not only that turret but can host different weaponry or gadgets as well. I'll try to make the models soon after.
You made a replacement weapon arm, and a modular utility backpack. These things are not re-skins and will be a massive hassle for valve to implement. You might as well make a sentry

True. I'm trying Valve's fortitude already with those. Yeah a sentry should be in the list of things to do.

Daily ronin update...
Again the item is a wrangler replacement. The concept is to have 3 variations to choose from (styles) with different functions each. Version 1 is modeled after Browning M1917. Version 2 is modeled after the teleporter. Version 3 is modeled after the Hightower ray dish. You are free to speculate its functionality. (Like how you guys did with the teleporter beam idea, previously) Moving onward now to make a primary weapon and then texture all of to call it a set.
*Made the beam gun smaller.
*Made a ray gun version.
*Added additional color variations.
*Added a remote antenna on the joystick (not visible in the screen shot)
@Ronin - Looking at your pack thing, I can see it as a secondary which allows you to pick up your buildables and move at full speed, while they continue to function to a lesser degree. Engineer made into a mobile Dispense? Teamwork! Engineer being the exit to his Teleporter? Fantastic! Engineer with a sentry on his back? Iffy, as all hell. But so long as he has to manually aim and it's never as good as a level 2 when on his back, should be fine! Just some of the things the model got me thinkin' about.
Looks pretty boss Spark. A lot of those names were recently used by someone else in here submitting a lot of dinosaur hats/misc items though. Maybe you've had them thought up since you started that pack a while ago though.
Amazing work, sparkwire. I must admit I like your raptor hat a lot more than mine
We've both had our items in development for months now, so I can say (from my part) that the naming issues are purely coincidental. Names aside, I think our items complement each other rather well. I hope to see your knife and sniper rifle hunting my dinosaurs in TF2 soon.
I really want that Pegleg on page 330 ,really awesome pack .Wish I could texture like this .Cause I have so many ideas to do but not good at coloring like this .Just not used to it I guess.
little bit of progress, it's getting better. I realized I've never gotten a wep in game does anyone have tutorials? should the uv maps be 256x256 or 512x512? and i have it 2120 tris should is that ok? Valve says under 8000 is fine but am I wasting to many?
made a lil' progress fixed some of the smoothing groups, also crabs can be blue right? should i use a neutral grayish green color or buck up and make team textures?

Why are you all of the sudden doing dinosaur stuff? Chris just made Dino stuff, and you decide to use his same idea and try to make better stuff than him?
Honestly, I think that your sniper set is awesome, but I wouldn't recommend continuing on with this theme, try to do something more original, that will increase your chance of getting items in game.

I know you had the concepts before, but if you think about it, every time someone "copies" off of another persons "theme" or "idea", Valve cannot choose either one because someone is going to feel left out.

Seems like if you steal/copy someone else's idea, your chances of getting an item in-game increases exponentially.
Alrighty, finished and submitted! Since I could not for the life of me come up with a good name for it, I just ended up submitting it as the Modified Shotgun. Hoping Valve can pull-off a better name. :P
There's more wear on the attachments and some slight color changes.
Here's another to highlight the team variants:

I was also testing video recording so, just for the heck of it, here's short video demonstrating the screen in motion:

Apologies for the giganto-post!
You know what, I actually like that a lot BECAUSE it is so simple and clean, yet fits well ingame.

Few things on that Spark, I confronted Valve when we were in the progress of getting things in-game, and I told him that it was the fedora, skinned and modified.
I told them I was sorry, it was a stupid mistake, and that I don't want money from it.
I don't get payed for the hat, Valve gets that money.
Valve wrote back, and they said it was fine, and they could still continue.
I appreciate all the people at Valve for what they have done for me. I met Gabe, and he was awesome.
People make mistakes Spark, and that has been one of mine, and I have apologized to Valve about it, and they have forgiven me, so I am going to move on.
Copying Chris's idea will get you nowhere, you'll just be another copycat.
Also, on a side note, I do not appreciate what you are doing on Facepunch, mocking me, looking at what I have done and making fun of my work. That's not mature.

Not for submission, just for fun and offensiveness. It's a bible sandvich!
@Hideous: "Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" - Matthew 4:4
Being a christian, I find your item to be ironically epicly awesome.

What if you had it for the Sniper, and he threw it?

I'll leave it to valve what they want to do with it. It is modeled after teleporter parts.

Wouldn't mind it at all being put in the game.
