Stalker 1 and clear sky 1.99 / 4.99 eur = I'm thinking about it. Also planning on getting zeno clash.
STALKER and Clear Sky are very similar, so if you're really on the fence, you can just get one. Can't miss out on a game as good as this one for just 2.
I'm interested in GTA IV for 7,50 and Braid for 2,25. It's really too bad of a time to come out with a sale, though, I just spent all my money buying christmas presents and I'll receive plenty of entertainment stuff with christmas.
Yeah, they used to wipe the card info every time, but someone invented the lazyness preventor, where they'd save that info and you'd just click next a couple of times :P
LOL It's funny how they have the release dates of the games as the dates they hit steam. That Lucas Arts Adventure Pak with all those old school Indiana Jones games said it was released in 2009...
why do they do this to me! how can i resist the arkham! damn well it will be a great christmas for me hooray! So many games now, it's crazy, I better get cracking playing them!
Defense Grid is actually a very well made and balanced tower defense game. It's a bargain at $2.49
Definitely. I picked this up a while back, and it's really addictive. I wasn't particularly into tower defense games, but The Awakening is really easy to get into, with great visuals and a superb learning curve that gets very challenging the further it progresses.
Can't believe it's this cheap. I'd definitely recommend it to everybody.
I spent an hour last night digging through the deals, and so far I've bought 4 games and gifted 5. I hate you, STEAM! :poly142:
For those of you looking to bask in the glory that is S.T.A.L.K.E.R., here is some helpful advice I've been sharing:
Sweet! S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is by far my favorite FPS of all time. It's loosely based off of the Russian sci-fi story Roadside Picnic as well as the 1979 film by Andrei Tarkovsky.
If you grab a copy, be sure to install the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Complete 2009 mod, which updates the graphics and sounds in the game and fixes tons of bugs without affecting the main storyline. It's great for a play through on a newer PC, check it out here: http://artistpavel.blogspot.com/2009/04/stalker-complete-2009.html
With the addition of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Complete 2009 mod, this game is one of the most immersive experiences that you could ask for. I also highly suggest reading up on the book and movie that I mentioned above, as it will help your enjoyment of the game immensely. Feel free to ask any S.T.A.L.K.E.R. related questions as well, I might be able to help out. I hope all that helps! :bounce:
and
For those of you that have never played the game before, make sure you read the Storyline section in the manual before you start, because the game just kind of drops you in the middle of things without much explanation.
If you really want to enjoy the experience, buy/borrow/Google a copy of Roadside Picnic and read it before you play. It's less than 200 pages, and it will really help you appreciate the setting of The Zone! I just got my copy this year, and it's fantastic.
Also, when you play, remember that this isn't Call of Duty (nothing against CoD mind you). You start the game wearing jeans and a leather jacket. One good hit from a shotgun will end you.
Thanks for the reckomendations lee! I just bought it and thought it was pretty cool but lacking visually (because it's from 2007) so i'm now downloading the mod, and I just bought the book online . It better be worth it! :P.
SWEET!!! Just got Sniper Elite, Red Faction Guerrilla, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky, World in Conflict: Complete, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, Defense Grid: The Awakening, Indigo Prophecy & Braid for $60!
Clear Sky is the newest, but I think the original (especially with the 2009 Complete mod which fixes bugs and updates the textures) is a little bit better. Clear Sky's Zone was a little too crowded and not as unnerving, and the ending was very linear and rushed.
Yes! Best RTS ever, if you ask me. I think you're best off with the original one if you have to pick, it has the two most interesting factions and the best campaign (though you'll only be playing the Americans there). CoH+OF is a good deal too. Tales of Valor has interesting gameplay modes but doesn't add any new factions, its campaigns are ridiculously short and it's still pricy.
Clear Sky is the latest of the two, but I'd agree with 3DLee that Shadow of Chernobyl (the original) is the better one. It has more horror, and the story works a better (though I'd say the story is pretty lousy in either). CS has upgradable armour and weapons, though, which really adds to the gunplay.
Too many sales, not enough time to play all these awesome games. Last two weeks I picked up Plants Vs Zombies, World of Goo, and Torchlight, now I'm eyeballing even more.
Shadow of Chernobyl is by far the better game, minus some nice mechanics added in Clear Sky. The latter, however, has the most bullshit endgame (I never got around to completing it, having ultimately ragequit really near the end).
I really like it, and I have 2 guest passes to hand out. Hit me up on steam: either sicsided or masnelle (at) frontiernet.net, and I'll give you one to try it out.
Got Braid, Dawn of War II, and The Witcher. My backlog is growing.
Going to go for Dawn of War II me thinks, GTAIV for £5 when i have it on the PS3 is very tempting still. Shadow of Chernobyl is far more engaging i think, it has a clear defined start whereas Clear Sky doesn't quite hit it, and the areas at the beginning are not as interesting.
Indigo Prophecy
Beyond Good And Evil
Braid
All together 10$!
I have gotten so many games on steam in the last few months, it's crazy.:)
I am going to wait until later through the sale to buy anything above 10 bucks because the sale is on until January 3rd and you never know what the daily deals might be.

ps valve, add customizable folders in steam list.
Also if you don't have beyond good and evil yet, buy it now, or stuff will happen. Bad stuff.
The prices I see are higher, where do you live exactly?
I live in Sweden.
That's funny. It seems like they've raised the prices during the day! They were lower this morning
Oh and if anyone is thinking of getting Fallout 3 on steam, I just got it at Gamestop for $24.99, it's $37 on steam atm...

The Eidos pack is ridiculous. 49.99usd for 20 games, including Arkham Asylum, which is... 49.99usd (presale).
merry christmas valve and all!

patience young padawan, it's a steam sale the titles change daily...
is Psychonauts even out on pc?

It is - it's in the Steam store for 9,99 (=$14?), which is a bit much considering you can now buy GTA IV for 7,50 (=$10?)
And yeah, it's been on PC for ages.
Shadow of Chernobyl is by far the better game, minus some nice mechanics added in Clear Sky. The latter, however, has the most bullshit endgame (I never got around to completing it, having ultimately ragequit really near the end).

lol I hear ya.
Does anyone know if there's a way to get Audiosurf to recognize FLAC files?
EDIT: Never mind. It supports them in the standard version. The steam page just didn't say so.
Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (steam) isn't associated with any program.
WTF?
+1, World in Conflict rocks! Sheesh, I need to stop playing L4D2 and get back to some WiC.
