looks awesome. of course. but i got a fucking throat punch waiting here for those motherfuckers and their marketing bullshit :
' one of the core philosophies here at pixologic is to provide artists with tools that forge the quickest and most intuitive path between imagination and actual creation '
those guys've been chuffing back their zCrack for far too long
Yeah Tacit, and it's even worse when they force you to sit through a black screen just for that nonsense hsha.
I also hope they will release 1:1 preview videos of the toolset soon. It's hard to tell if things are smooth and intuitive when its like x4 timelapse like in this video ...
Can someone explain to me the benefits of having 64 bit support for anything being good?
I've never owned a 64 bit system, and only due to the limitations on software/products as i've come to hear about. But i'd still like to know nevertheless?
Wow, now that is classy.
The Planar Brush and HS controls look very interesting
That with the noise controls....im just really taken back how cool this is going to be
It looks like GoZ wont be around for Windows until the end of September though...but im not complaining ^^
@Matt
The only real, tangible benefit you would gain from 64bit OS+programs is the ability to throw silly amount's of RAM at everything.
In a 32bit OS you can assign 2GB of RAM to a single program and 4GB in whole for the OS (including GPU RAM) where with a 64bit OS you can have a up to 128GB for a Windows system.
@Matt - I'm copying this directly from the Apple site:
The entire computing industry is moving from 32-bit to 64-bit technology, and it’s easy to see why. Today’s Mac computers can hold up to 32GB of physical memory, but the 32-bit applications that run on them can address only 4GB of RAM at a time. 64-bit computing shatters that barrier by enabling applications to address a theoretical 16 billion gigabytes of memory, or 16 exabytes.
Those new videos look amazing - the hard surface tools will be incredibly useful.
Wow, even more pumped now for the release! I really like the surface noise. I've been wishing for something like this. I am usually too pressed for time to alpha that stuff in, so I've been creating photo-based normals for surface detail. This might even help to prevent the common noob mistake of jumping right into the high frequency detail since it can all be applied at once automatically.
I am reserving judgment for the hard surface tools (since I've already given up on HS sculpting and been practicing my sub-d modeling). I am hoping they turn out great. It was mentioned you could turn on hard surface mode in the existing brushes, so that's an exciting possibility.:)
I've been curious how Zbrush upgrades work. Once you buy it do they let you upgrade it forever (doubt it)? Or is it through the version and then you have to buy, for example, v4 and you just get upgrades through v3?
I dunno, I purchased zbrush and mudbox around the same time and Pixologic keeps giving me sweet upgradese while Autodesk tells me to GTFO because I purchased mudbox before they bought 'em.
Stradigos: I bought ZBrush at version 2 and all the updates so far have been free. They even suggested on the site that the 4.0 release will be a free upgrade for current license owners.
The release MAY be delayed by as much as a few days. We will update this announcement the moment that the release has happend and upgrade links have started going out. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to bring you the best version 3.5 possible. While waiting, please check out the newest preview video: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=074539

Yup I believe I bought at the initial release of 2.0 since then it's been free releases. I just don't see how they can keep giving it away. Although, I heard the same thing from a representative a couple months back before the 4.0 delay.
I mean I'm OK with paying for a 4.0 upgrade!

yeah and i guess its safe to asume that since they posted this on the last day of the announced release period that their "may" is pretty much a "will" and the few days could be anywhere between 2 days and months
ZBrush 3.5 and ZBrush 4 will be released as free upgrades to all registered users.
Nice! Yeah, I have no idea how they can get by without charging for new versions, but whatever, I can't complain. My college budget is tight enough as it is. I hope JourneyEd get's the discounted version in soon. They have 3.1 still.
I'm really looking forward to playing with the zspheres.
Really looking forward to this, the new zspheres look great, as do the hard surface tools. Though it's surely got to get an autobackup system soon. Costs nothing to upgrade Z other than the hours of your life wasted due to unrecoverable crashes, which if you bill by the hour is quite a lot
I didn´t know you´re a ZBrush guy. You always used to do your hipoly models with subdivisional modeling. Or should we look forward to some nice sculptings from you anytime soon?

I'm not a Zbrush guy. I was just taking the rest of the comments to their logical conclusion.

granted, it does look better when done at a macro level instead of micro, but damn... thats some fancy shit!
Now, I want a real 64 bit support...

The hard surface sculpting seems interesting too but I'll have to wait and see how it feels - hopefully it will be nice, cos it looks really powerful

I wonder how the new planar brushes work.
I guess mudbox team have to work harder...mudsphere in 2011...
Can't wait to try Zspheres2 and the noise looks pretty good too.
I really need to spend more time outside...
