Lots of artists I respect are here and I wanted to be part of this community. I work in games and currently I'm modeling cars lots of cars. So I have many questions on the subject.
Hey everyone! I'm a Computer Games Art graduate from the UK but currently living in South Korea. I'm semi-skilled but there are still a lot of holes in my knowledge. I hope that this forum will be a 'Forum' :poly136: for me to be able to pass on the bits I know and learn a lot more too!
Hello, I'm new here and to modeling. I just finished my first item and I am hoping to learn more through you guy's criticism. Thanks for allowing me into the community.
I used to be a member a looooong time ago, but I'm back I guess (picking up 3D again after a long break of painting). Great forum guys - definitely a great resource, so keep it up.
Hi all,
I've been at UDK for a while and no matter what I do I always run into issues. Like these two:
While working through the new Digital Tutors 'Material Creation Workflows in UDK' - lesson 5 goes through just making a new package, saving it, and then making a material.
So for some reason, whenever I make a new package (make a new material - same process the video goes through) when I go to right click on the package and save it - I get this error 'Can save map files via the browser. Not saving blahblahblah map'. I don't understand what I've done wrong and I know that when I quit the package will vanish and I'll have to restart again - but if I can't save what's the point.
The second issue is with the material creation. So the process with the video goes through make a new material, import the texture files, then in the material editor you right click and add the texture sample expression and then either (with the texture selected in the browser) it automatically loads the texture in the sample, or you click on the button that says use the selected material in the content browser. Regardless of what I do the texture will not become the texture sample - it won't, whether it's selected when I create the texture sample, or if I have it selected and try to add it with the button.
I would SEVERELY like help as I've been trying to get a walk-able level done for my graduation which is in about 3-ish weeks and I'd rather not have a checkerboard level. It's ridiculous how this is not working.
This is the same post I put on the Digital Tutors forum - I'm posting it everywhere I can in hopes of someone who has the answer.
This is Chris Gilbert from Knald Technologies. Just made a post to update folks in our beta thread before realizing that I needed to post here first. My apologies!
Been checking the forums for help and inspiration for almost two years now, I believe it's about time I join in the fun and give a shot at the Monthly Noob Challenge!
I'm in college right now aspiring to be an Environment Artist
Hey guys i'm a long time lurker and finally looking to be more active in the community. I'm currently in my final year at university studying Games Art.
Hello everyone of the Polycount forum, Its great to be here!! I am a 3d design student. I love designing everything from video games to architecture and I'm looking forward to posting my work and getting feedback from all of you great fellow artists out there!!
Hi I am new here. I am the COO of Labpix Studios. I would love to contribute some of the work we have done for our first mobile game here. Sketches, concept art and models.
Hey I have been playing with 3d for near 7 years now but only went "deeper" in the past few years and got serious, most of my background before that was just texturing and game engine modding, I hope to just continue to learn here build my port and get into the games industry in environment design and maybe make some friends on the board along the way.
