ak! They are both equally as cool! Solution: make them both!!!! J/k. I would say go with the previous one only because you invested more time into it ... but then again we do have over two months left. Sorry, I'm not much help :P Truly amazing stuff.
@Jarvgrimr : I used to use painter for sketching all day at work but nowadays I use 100% photoshop.
Quick bit of tinkering, liking this guy much more than the spider thingymajig. Demon Lord Centaur type deal! Same arm mechanism on his left arm as the previous design, same weapon principle.
Great concepts Fight, though I just noticed that you had people on hooks:X Haha, I had them on hooks around a collar piece for my guy, might have to figure out a different way to torture my humans:)
FUCKING TIIIIGHHTT! Give him a tail....that might do the trick for balance. Other than that...great concept thus far. I remember last Dom war, your work was badass...great to see you in this one as well!
Love this concept. A powerful being.
The curving of the pikes and horns made me think about a cage. Kind of an extension of the soul prison in the chest ? With souls trying to run away, distorting the chest, pulling the skin.
The only thing I find weird it's the back legs, too spread. I wan't figured myself how this thing move or if he can run or not.
nice dude, he is very mighty. not much to crit, other thani would ditch the chaoss sybol, if its glowing gree, i would put teh poycount face there, but very subtley and ghostyin his belly,,good stuff
its worth bearing in mind, sometimes when you get bored of a concept but you keep pushing through, you can get a second wind and you see what you liked about it once more. There's definately plenty of potential in bladehead
having said that, I know how refreshing it can feel to just dump what you have and spontaneously make something new. both are win sauce anyway!
Hes looking fucking dope but theres something about how upright his posture is that bothers me. I think he should be arched more like ( - although not that exaggerated.
Is there room for some polycount loving in his greenchest on this one too? heh
another seriously interesting character. lovin the micro head on the huge torso. but preferred your initial sketchness of it. had that bit more demonic presence
are you planning on finishing your cleaverhead demon? as that had some fantastic qualities
im loving this second character. the only thing is that the head doesnt seem to keep up with the gnarly level of the rest of the design. i like that the horns go down so it is the same shape as the back pieces but flipped to break the pattern. but you could add a little something something in there to spice things up. maybe make the eyes like a liniar slit design like he has on his bicep instead of regular eye sockets. that way you have the horn and tech both reflected in a tight little area
Hmm the tiny head seems a bit out of place. It's something different but I think you could express so much more emotion with a larger head and more features on the face. Maybe a version of bladehead could make a return? hehe
I like the front legs as arms thing. That's a cool touch. It's like a freaking gorilla centaur.
I think you losing a bit the sense of majesty and power with a 3/4 view. Maybe it's also the refining which erase the "rawness" and "harshness" which give to your character a real sense of brutality.
I criticize, I criticize but I don't have the half of your skills
liking the new type a lot as well fightpunch. i think the only thing that makes your 3/4 too stiff is the 45 degree arm bend and the straight as an arrow back. the gorilla-ish looking bottom half is really interesting but maybe a little too plain?
if i had to say something about the design overall it's that i really like the look of those hooks at his waist but am wondering why that's the only hint of inorganic stuff on the guy. just a thought, if he puts hooks and steel through his body, maybe there would be more evidence of other primal body modifications or something.
that aside this piece is really coming together, looking forward to your next piece!
Hey Darren, looking uber cool! Your stuff has always been fab, but nice to see you pushing yourself with the more painterly aspect of it. Loving the design of the latest guy, he has loads more character than the spider beastie. Would agree the last version has lost a little of the manicness, but I also know how friggin hard it can be to keep the spontaneity of rougher sketches through to a more finished piece. The more downward direction of the head on the earlier versions was nice, and while I like the offset-ness of the glowy globule hanging from his horns on the first version, when you see it from another angle as on the last, it looses something. But I've just noticed the people hanging from meathooks on him. Awesome way to show off scale and just plain creepy. Part of me wants to say you should skin the poor buggars too.
Lo Guys. A few head explorations. Need to keep that silhouette so just messing with ideas for the inner details. I'm liking 4 so far, maybe with more skulls on the horns.
Thinking about what you said Jouste, I think I will play around with integrating more non organic stuff/armour into him, cheers for the suggestion
2 4 and 5 aremy votes. I really like 5's concept, but I also like how the others have green worked into their faces. maybe 5 with a rotten hole for 2's eyes and 4's horns? Real solid stuff dude. Krazy skeelz.
i'm into head #1, its got a little asymmetry [but not overdone], the cracky glow is there [which it looks like your will incorporate throughout] and its purely organic. to me, i see this guy as more of an elemental, and less of a wearing armor type creature.

I really like the way you are blending odd elements together ... It's grotesque and grand in scale and presence ... Love it !

Coming along real nice .
Hmm looking properly the large horns restrict his arm moment backwards.... That could be a right royal bitch of a problem.
Good luck! Keep it up!

Really really good work.
my fav entry so far!...love the demon

oh and I like #4 ace.
D.
I think it will add somethine unusual with some fabrics over the body.
But, green lines of power are really cool indeed. Hard choice !

like it's an eye running in a track you know. just a thought
looking forward to see where you take this.
