Joseph Silverman: haha, thx! yeah, alot of these end up getting real crazy, outside of photoshop they can get hard to read. but I don't worry about that too much since I can throw them into PS and knock back whatever shapes I want with some atmosphere and what not.
this one here is my sketch for a visual challenge Im doing with some guys from my sketchgroup. The theme is "A Warrior and a Monster". For my piece, Im making an alien warrior chick riding a multi headed beast she tamed...

Suburbbum: I like money, lol. maybe if the video Im putting together actually gets a good response, I'll see about doing more and selling them online or something. doing a workshop would be awesome but I dont have the time or the teaching skills for that right now, lol. but seriously, thx.
last post for the night, need food and sleep. I started another sketch for the "theme challenge"...

turns out eating half of a pinneapple coconut cheesecake will keep you awake at night...lol. so, I here's another sketch update...just combining the 2 ideas for the theme challenge, just to see...probably going to go back to just the first sketch, but I like this one too...

I need to get me some skills like this. I haven't used "real" media to any extent for some time now (shame, shame) but I'll be buying some when you drop a video just to try and emulate this style. Until then I'm going to try and develop a similar technique with digital software if its possible.
Stinger, dont wait to experiment with this style! Get some kind of medium (lemonhead describes his mixture a few pages back -- ive experimented with oil paint medium and its worked great), some speedball black ink, and whatever brushes/marking tools you want, and give it a go!
some more progress on that theme challenge piece. Its taking on a life of its own at this point, I've got a story forming between these 2 main characters you see here...more to come on that soon.

This stuff is all cool as hell, just wanted to say that it was great to look through this thread! Very inspiring, a real eye opener to different approaches and possibilities.
here are some old characters of mine that I revamped a bit now that Im getting back to the project I originally made them for. More on that to come...so many side projects Im doing all at once, but that's part of the fun...

new projects keeping me super busy...but, I have begun to make some vids of my process. still working out exactly how Im going to present them, the first few I made were poorly lit so...working on it, and I'll post those soon. here are a couple more sketches...

Looking forward to the artbook and the vid.I love how dynamic your artworks are.Gives me the Ashley Wood feel with those ink strokes.Btw is it just me, but your last post won't show up.
So I finally got a decent video, lol. After going through several different recording devices and finding none of them useful, I ended up just using my iphone. Ill have more videos soon...

Thanks for the vid man.I really like how organic/spontaneous your workflow is.really makes it dynamic with the brushstrokes and all that, really inspirational.
Great stuff. I only want you to break up your value comps because you do one variation really really well. Here is a little start up guide to help you on your way.
@Pangahas: Glad that I was finally able to get something together, and that it is well recieved. I do enjoy the fluid nature of the style, and I will be posting more videos, so stay tuned...
@Squareko: Hey, thx for the comment. I tend to experiment with my lighting and values further after Ive scanned in the sketches. But I've been looking into different techniques and tools to incorporate more dynamic lighting as well as more definable detail into the sketch phase for some time now, so I'll be adding that link you posted to the rest of my ref, definately a good source, thx for that!
These next few posts are ideas for a storybook project I'm working on with a friend...this first one also has a video...

The Egg Eater, a vicious and stealthy predator that feeds on the unhatched eggs of other species...
The Hatemonger: Comprised from the tainted souls of Murderers, Rapists, and Decievers. The Hatemonger feeds on the destruction of souls, throughout every realm of existence...
