thanks for the compliment, unfortunately i didn't get the job
Shitty man, is this a public art test? can you show us the requirements? the model and textures look really good especially if hand painting was a requirement - ive never seen you do anything but photosource. nice job. I dont know the requirements, but the foliage looks a tad fail. everything else looks pretty good to me without knowing what they wanted.
yeah doing hand painted textures was really wierd for me to do. but i think i did a pretty good job.
They were wii spec requirments i could use 1024x1024 for everything
and basically keep it under 4000 polygons , simple requirments i think the thing that got me was the foilage so might have to do practice on that :P
i had fun making it, and learned alot about optimizing models.
Is that some sort of Uzi or is it a pistol? Eitherway I want to know more about that gun, like it's name, or something. The color of it almost sudjests it's related to a construction peice of equpiment, very odd...

I think I was searching for something better than a Halo Pistol... meh- Looks like it can shoot some powerful rounds thou, hehe..
Just a lil' warm up sketch this evening. I'm really enjoying Alchemy and will be using it to crank out some thumbs and ideas for my dom war entry. Fun tool.
Sketchin' tons and this is a lot of fun. I like how I'm able to see things in Alchemy that are sometimes just randomly appearing and then run with them.
Working on a facial rig... i have all the points weighted, now i have to create a UI for it, and then create some scripts and tools that go along with that.
Just practicing up on the technical side... the job search starts real soon, so i need to be on top of things :-)
Why is it so important to have so many poly on a flat surface? Im new to modelling myself, And to me it just seems like alot of poly consumption. Cant you just have it as one flat poly surface? please explain this to me..

in light of noel confusing me for bitmap I will try to answer this.
With the model you referenced that bitmap made, it's irrelevant really. with High Polygon models the goal isn't to adhere to a strict budget of polygons but to get the shape as close as possible without regards to what it costs.
If it was for use in a game then yes, the amount would matter, but in this case it's either just for rendering or baking down to a lower poly version. Hope this helped.

So.. A Flat Surface isnt Completly Flat? Like.. 1 Polygon Face? Not completly Flat?
Im working on a scene for class, it is supposed to be in the near future where the old technology is decaying as you can see from the rusting telephone lines. I wanted it to feel kind of sobering, forgotten and lonely not sure if that gets across. Any suggestions would help.

Its got some problems, so I need to go back and fix them
A small subdiv excercise i proposed as asked for learning better subdiv modelling. I've been sharing in my blog some tips for all these kind of works.
it's less than an hour of work, if someone want to try... :poly124:
Nice scope bitmap

The face is heavily inspired by the art of Audrey Kawasaki.
@ Virtuosic
that looks like a great rig, mine is very simple compared to that.
Always great learning examples from you Blaizer. You find complexity in the simplest of things, and you simplify the most complex forms.
I'd also like to give a shout-out to the Google translator. I'm pretty sure it's magic.
