Hey Jasp is it intentional that he looks just like a duck from the side? What with the thing on his helmet looking like an eye and the beard very much like a beak, especially in profile. I keep seeing a duck before i see a dude!
Man Gav... between your design of scarecrow, and how Batman Arkham Asylum did him, he is quickly becoming one of my favourite villains
I love the sculpt man, so much character Maybe you can have some sort of worms or something coming out of his mouth / seams just to add more to the nastiness that is... the scarecorw!
Working on the Texture, Any ideas would help. The whole Low poly is done, im just hiding the tires because they aren't finished being baked.
I like it, but I'm having a little trouble reading if it's mud or rust on the sides. For what is supposed to be mud, keep in mind that the mud will splatter up from the wheel wells, not be distributed in random splotches (like this dried mud: http://www.starshipmodeler.com/tech/weathering/truck_spatter_1.JPG and this splatter here: http://forwardafrica.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/img_0479.jpg). Looks like you have some of that going on with the rear wheel, but the mud towards the front looks more like a kid was throwing mud at it or something. Also, with the color of mud you have right now, you're planning on giving it some shine, right? If not (like if you want it to be dried mud), you should probably lighten it up considerably.
@Jasp - Holy crap man! I love this character. Your style is awesome. ... give me mooore.
@Okno - well... my methods change with every picture but in this case first I painted base with pressure set to 'opacity' only, than started switching between 'opacity' for shading and 'size' for detail. After that I added new layer set to hue and with huge soft brush I added some color variations, merged those two layers and from this point on used only size sensitive hard brush. Now with my finger on 'Alt-key' I could choose from many color variations on my image but I like to have palette window open all the time just to add some values that are not on the picture yet. That's all I think.
Thanks Swizzle. Hair would be great, planning to add later
Here's the wire screengrab.. http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/3721/flatfacewire.jpg
It shows areas where edge loops appear to stop suddenly, but it's just nutty blender, or some sort of videocard issue
Ruz: Dude I LOVE that texture work, that style is Ace. I get the caricature you are going for but the way the back of his head is so wide really throws me off. Just feels like it could be a little more balanced while still retaining the thick-head look.
But yeah.. i should have made an entire chair.
But seriously, this just started as me trying to pratice the pattern this type of chair have.
Tricky tho!
I made everything in modo, but the viewport shot is from modo.
Im using xoliul shader. and the DOF is from max camera.
