No, he's not. It's a projected win. Don't celebrate until all votes are counted. Some places he's ahead by a small margin, with < 50% votes counted. Projected wins = meaningless.
Vassago: only one state he is projected to win is within 5 points. He has more than that in every other state. There are several states called for McCain that are within 5 points. He's got this!
Whatever, he can't lose. It's real life hot-blooded mecha-anime plot formula.
Fresh idealistic newbie vs the morally ambiguous veteran with the bumbling second in command. Someone close to the newbie dies right near the climax, causing him to power-up and win.
I'm not saying he won't win, hell I voted for him. Just saying, never celebrate too early.
More polls are 50% counted (or less) and some places Obama is < 12,000 votes ahead, like in North Carolina. Just saying, it's not over until every vote and absentee ballot is counted.
I think he got the electorial votes already the ones he needed be president. So in this country it doesn't matter how many votes are left uncounted if he has those already. I voted for the guy because of Palin was way too worse to even consider.
It should make you respect his speech writers more
perhaps, but he still said it. It was a good respectful note to go out on--basically a 'Obama's my prez now too, and I'm gonna work with him in whatever he needs'

Yeah, indeed. It was definitely the right way to go about things. All his people in the audience were booing him for saying those things. It kind of shows you how ridiculously ignorant people can be when they are blinded by idealism.
There was a bigger party in Toronto (Canada) for Obama than there was for our own election a couple weeks ago. Sigh.
I love all the Americans in the crowd saying "Amen" after every word of Obama's acceptance speech. And then his whole preacher "Yes We Can" part. Might as well have the speech in a gospel church! I'll never understand why religion has to be involved in American politics so much (but that's another subject).
I certainly like Obama. Change will be good, hopefully.
I for one, could not be more pleased with the results. We gained a number of seats in the House and the Senate and a brand spankin-new President to boot.
I was glued to my TV.. just wow.. And even though I'm not american, it's so awsome to witness history being made right in front of me
Im canadian as well but I get the sense that america's win here isnt for them alone. They do really lead or create a moral path, in terms of how one coutry can or will treat another country. And that in turn is brought right down to the level of how we treat each other as individuals.
Sadly kind of feels that way, Mezz; racism clearly still very apparent so it's a huge relief to see this happen. The progress at which any positive changes will happen is going to be extremely slow I'd imagine... there's just too much fuckin clean up work that needs to be done.
Definitely an exciting election to watch and be a part of!

Nice one Obama. Respect to McCain for bowing out gracefully and with dignity. Exciting times indeed.
Fuck, its half five in the morning and I've gotta be up at 7. It's barely worth going to bed.
