***updated concept***
hi
thumbs set...I think I'm going to explore 1 and 3 a bit more since they are the ones I like the most so far, any suggestions more than welcome of course, going for the invoker class, basically the common trend is that the characters are built around the artifact (the artifact helps them to move, etc) and there are floating bits around...Pesticles suggested an exploding man for 3 so I'm going to explore that too, could be interesting
1-huge bug demon thing with 4 insectoid huge legs armored, huge weapon floating stuff human body embedded on the back and artifact on the front.(think DMC4 Berial in size/stance)
2- your usual witch with floating artifact in the hands not so cool, but I though I'd still put her.
3- mage/exploding human maintained/empowered by the floating artifact they are standing on, my fav so far.
4- mage/chick in an energy sphere, for some rolling roflfun
5- floating bitch/dude with ice exoskeleton thing, magical counterpart to landmate...thing there's something to push there too.
and yes, ThatDon and EQ, me entering for GA.org was a joke.
go go go team !! bring some green buttlove in there !!!

Cool You're in.
( what's up with Pior ? Too busy ?)
3 - can be.
3 and 5 rock
looks kind of liony though, maybe not so much of the lion head...if thats what it is
I'll start playing around with more 3d shapes now
right now the cube attracts a lot the attention tho (composition wise)
CRAZY AWESOME <-
This guy looks more chaotic then orderly.
Cool stuff man. Keep at it.
All this electronical three dimensional graphics hocus pocus is very confusing to me but your art has always been kickass so you are obviously on the right track.
GO GO GO!

I'm pretty bad at balancing stuff in 2d so everything will be balanced in 3d, I'll certainly make some drastic changes, but well.
here's a quick 3d mockup
The "robe" will actually be made of actual armor plates and cloth layered together to give more movement and depth, the "leg" part will be a more classical mage robe constraining the legs and attaching the dude to the cube.
the arms are out of the sleeves because the guy is still cool even if he's slowly dying (I'll come back to that).
I'll make a few head mock ups tomorrow/tonoght but he'll either be alien or wear a mask to hide his disintegrating face.
the big cube thing under the head is part of the hood, I wanted that to be some sort of book with tons of spells and he has his head through it (I got a few ideas on how to convey that in 3d).
so, the slowly dying part...the cube he's standing on is the actual artifact, of course, it gives him unlimited powers and invulnerability but in counterpart, the cube slowly feeds from his soul, so the exposed body part will be disintegrating (think dark phoenix's effect in x men 3). the cloth and armor will probably be torn aswell to convey that look even more. I'll certainly rework the way the cube is leeching on him, right now I'm thinking that the little filaments are penetrating his flesh and feeding directly from here, slowly destroying the flesh around.
the floating bits will either be bits of torn cloth or remnants of machines he'll have destroyed.
sooo...yeah, sorry if the design/concept isn't fleshed out more, I'm quite bad at this even though I'm working on it, I promise the 3d part will be more explicit
Martinipants : you filthy swede, please enter ffs, kthx
Liked the squiggly bits flying around him in the previous pic. very nass. Has a great feel of motion about the piece.
enough artfaggotry talk from me!
well it's not the face, but I wanted to start on the naked body of the character to get a rough idea of where I was going, so here it is, it's only a few iterations in, but you get the idea already, still wondering what I'll do for the face, of course almost nothing of this will be seen except the arms and maybe the torso, but I thought it would help me build the story around that guy to sculpt that...plus it's FUN, HA !
very very wip, obviously.
Head will have eyes to avoid the hellknight/imp look
edit: eh nevermind... went back and looked at your concept some more, I'm sure this won't be a problem. Keep on rockin it. (yours was one of my top favorites last year, btw)
Ferg : thanks for the heads up man, yeah I know it's quite close, especially on the face, but that will change once he'll have eyes, again I'm just doing the full body for story/identity building purposes, only the arms and lower ribcage will be visible on the model (maybe a few other exposed parts through torn cloth, etc). I have to admit that I like that exoskeleton (thanks Pesti ) look on characters and both are using muscle groups as a base, so the flow is kinda similar. I'm glad you like it tho, and glad you liked the one I made last year
more, added eyes and different facial features, not detailing all that too much since only the arms and lower ribcage will be seen on th final model, I'll push those parts a little more though, once the rest of the model will be done.
what you think ?
added more details+veins and stuff
i´m realy interested in how this is going to look like with the other stuff on it
