My wife won me over with what basically was Brome's free games argument. I don't mind paying 45 for it, if that was it's listed price. I just don't like that they advertise it's 29.95 and you don't get the option to buy just TF2 for that price. But whatever, 45 is still a good price even if the other titles aren't my bag, I can just ignore them. 90 plus all that extra crap was too much to blow on for 2 copies of TF2, so we'll be sharing a copy until they release it for 29.95. If you see me on before 7:30pm(pac) with the name of MrsVig theres a really good chance its my wife, unless I forget to switch the alias back heh.
It would have been nice to build my own "orange box" or pick the titles that came with TF2, Steam has quite a few games I would like to sub out...
For some reason my Steam has started to pre-load TF2 for a SECOND time just now ... this happening to anyone else?
Edit: It's acting really strange actually. On the normal bar it showing 15% preload whereas when I actually open the download manager for that specific file it's at around 94% leading me to believe it is being patched!
So, since they missed the deadline for us who bought this for a working beta (beta is working, but issues - alpha is unstable) starting toda.. er, yesterday.
I think they should give us a rebate coupon for our next purchase.
Free full version of Peggle!
Sucks to hear that some of you are having issues getting it running. Hopefully they nut out most of the issues so we can get some solid gaming in.

thats not true oxy. It got released before midnight (pacific time).
They didn't say you'd be able to DL it in time to play on monday.

Starting Monday, September 17, those who pre-purchase The Orange Box via Steam can download and activate the beta release of Team Fortress 2 (TF2). This year's most anticipated online action game, TF2 delivers new game types, a signature art style powered by Valve's next generation animation technology, persistent player statistics, and more

When I left at 12:30AM Pacific it was still not activated in the sense of actually getting into the game (which would pretty much throw out the argument of being "beta"). Im sure we could get into the lawyer talk of what defines "activation". But in short, they made a sale based on a implied written statement. Its called customer service... you know that thing they do when they screw up?
According to Steam, I played for 2.2 hours later with nary a hiccup. This is the most fun I've had in an FPS is a long, long time. Perfectly balanced with some lovely graphics as a bonus.
Couple of questions. Can someone direct me to minimum system requirements for TF2? Also, will Xbox players be able to play against their PC counterparts? If my machine can't hack it then I'll hold out for the 360 version as long as I can play with the polycounters who buy the PC version.

A polycount dedicated server has been ordered and should (I assume...) be set up by the end of the week. Details will be posted as I get them.
Too much fun. The scout is king. Only problem I've run into thus far are a couple of instances of being disconnected from servers (notably the one that CaseyJones and Conor were on) and then not being able to reconnect to them.

[/ QUOTE ]I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the two versions won't be able to play against eachother.
Server update: I called the hosting company this morning. They said they got a corrupted version of the file and will be getting a new one and "hopefully" be up by the end of the day. I wouldn't hold your breath on it though, kids. ;D

1 hour and 10 minutes left until the end of the work day, then some sweet TF2 action.

I saw Gwot and Brome pop in and out a couple of times but everyone else seems to be having problems getting the thing to work.

Looks amazing and what little I actually got to played felt awesome. Just need to get the crashes dealt with and we'll be good to go.
