^ YES! you go sheriff! that airport is just 15 mins from here. Man... some people just want to throw their own rules on to other people... that Sheriff was awesome, he defended what was just and right! Kudos to him, if i see him, i WILL shake his hand.
The problem I have with something like this, is the way the camera man was acting. I understand he's heated about it, but he should shut up and listen to what the sheriff is trying to tell him. He assumes he's being stopped, even though the officer is only trying to relay info. Good on the officer though, and the guy from the airport is a real ass, who is on his own power trip.
And in all honesty, the airport should be making people aware of the opt-out choice.
I haven't really kept up with all the tsa news. If you opt-out, do you get a pat-down or something instead? And out of curiosity, what are the reasons for opting out? Besides your black and white gonads being on display. Is there a radiation risk?

There's always shiesty stuff going on w the TSA. My own personal opinion on why they don't promote the opt-out ventures into corrupt business practicies and the cancer industry... but I don't want my tinfoil hat to disturb anyone by getting deep into it :P
In most train/metro stations, you get more radiation exposure in under an hour, then you do in a nuclear plant for an entire year, or constant exposure to xray in a hospital.
But hey, I guess is people like cherry-picking their battles...
you pick up more radiation from cosmic rays during the flight then you get from the scan or an x-ray.
That's if you believe the radiation levels are as low as they say the scanners are. And even if it's lower, does it make sense to expose your body to more radiation, just because you're about to fly into cosmic radiation? If people want to be concerned about it, I don't think it's all that unjustified.
Personally, I don't like the use of scanners, because they are a personal violation, and an overreaction, to create a sense of security.
But this is a discussion for a different threat, since this discussion is not awesome, nor hilarious
