"Foodfight! is a computer-animated film produced by Threshold Entertainment and directed by Larry Kasanoff. The film features the voices of Charlie Sheen, Hilary Duff, Wayne Brady and Eva Longoria. Threshold has released a trailer for the film as part of their work on their website. Originally planned for a Christmas 2003 release and later pushed to late 2005. Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company/International Film Guarantors were set to auction off the film and all associated rights in September 2011, to settle C47 Productions and Threshold Animation Studios defaulted loan for the film."
2003. That would have put them against Finding Nemo. It was certainly... confident of them to say "Hey, I could do that. I'm going to get a 50 million dollar loan".
On an unrelated note, the promo image of the new Skyrim expansion is... interesting.
I kinda get the feeling someone from here might be involved.
The eyeball is completely vegetarian-proof, actually. It's a lychee from a can (which have their seeds removed already) filled with a blueberry. The gelatin in the jello is debatable, but my GF considers it vegetarian.
I don't think putting shrimp in jello would taste nice. Nor would squid eye, for that matter. =P

lol, no, I wouldn't think it would, though a shrimp with a blueberry may not be bad. I suspected it wasn't a shrimp though. Just appeared to have that texture. I've never seen Lychee before. Interesting
It's not shopped. When you draft a vehicle like that you only have to overcome friction. There's a bicycle record that is motor-paced and has drafting like that and the current record is 166 mph.
Looks like they've got a ways to go yet. They're going to need much more sophisticated interfacing with the body before they become really viable, at least in the fancy futuristic sci-fi sense. I'd imagine to get any kind of fine motor skills they'll need to be able to read electrical impulses from nerve signals. Seems like a something that'l l happen eventually, but it's a bit trickier than hooking the prosthetic up to a couple of major muscles.
Don't get me wrong though, that thing is really, really cool.
I'm really curious about how it's able to handle things so delicately. When he was demonstrating the different grips, the fingers close until they're touching, but when he was picking up the eggs it seems like they stop when they meet another surface. That'd definitely have to be the case if he's able to shake a hand like he suggested. Seems cool.
I wonder how many years from now prosthetic limbs will become better them actual human limbs and if at that point people will start getting augmentations deus ex style.
Not to mention mounting it in a way that it can actually bear a load of, say, 5 to 10 kilograms or so. But still it must be amazing to getting back even this level of ability.
One of the big problems with prosthetic is the irritation where you connect the part, which often starts sweating and calfing. It looks like its getting there, but it needs more refined controls, unfortunately it depends on the limb you have left and how the damage happened, sometimes you just don't have much to work with, in the form of muscles and nerves.
Very good drawing tutorials from a guy who really knows what he's talking about (unlike that other charlatan who angrily posted on the thread) http://www.proko.com/

I wonder how one funds a project like that.

Holy shit, I thought he was holding it. I thought maybe it was 'shopped' in, but that's a pretty damn good job if it was.
