Comp 27 is over, is a voting thread going up soon?
What's the next comp all about?
I say something simple with the blizzard drawing a lot of game, but since we just did a low poly challenge maybe something different.
Possibly a Bad Ass Texture comp?
Any theme game level texture
1x512x512 diffuse with optional normal, spec, glow
Present it as well as you like. On a box or in a scene, it's all up to you.

best crate texture?

THat'd be awesome. I'd actually have time to do it.
Although, my recent lack of challenge participation pretty much voids the value of my opinion here.
Maybe ultra low poly characters with 16 or 256 color textures no normals or spec on a single 128x128 texture.
Half life one models anyone?
I was thinking low poly marvel characters

Sounds great, but why just marvel?
I like the hi-poly sculpting idea, but it's fairly hard to put any kind of easy-to-follow constraint on it.
My suggestion would be a 1500-2000 poly "famous vehicle" such as Airwolf, the Dukes of Hazard car, the batmobile (any generation) the Back to the Future delorean. You get the idea.

dur:
Electro
Makoa
Seriously, we're not a commercial venture, Marvel don't go around suing fan art.
Comp could be called "Marvel is teh sucks!"
MAYBE Butt Fetishist model competition? Huh?=)

I second this, now that Gauss has gone and produced about 15 of the little buggers.
Or how about simply creating our own stereo-typical super hero?

the attraction to doing something like marvel is that it's recognisable, especially if low poly. The main problem with making your own is that we really couldn't offer up enough time for the character development.
I still don't see why it would be a problem to do marvel lowpoly, no one is going to come nocking on PC's door for fan art, but if it's out, then it's out.

I agree. Only change I'd suggest is make it comic characters instead of just marvel.
To allow the obligatory Batman and Tmnt
Comic book characters are so overdone though.

But not by polycount, yet.
But it definately should be open to all comics and not just Marvel.
If not that... BEST CRATE!

I actually like that idea, and I would probably join in on that one. Because since seeing Guass churn those things out I've thought how neat it would be to model one of those things.

I agree. Model handheld energy-based weapon fit for a humanoid type of user. Humour is wanted.
Or combine the whole bunch; guns used by lowpoly superheroes in the bottomfetishists' universe.

I was thinking exactly that less than five minutes ago.

you better be. :]
i've not yet completed a comp. so i accept my vote shouldn't count for much. but. there's this old episode of transformers where ultra magnus. springer. and rc are given human form. their outfits are all coloured up in tune with their robot / vehicle colour scheme. so. there's the idea. if it's not been done already : take an existing transformer from any era / incarnation and redesign it as a human character
