Good to see some guys on Polycount getting into DS homebrew. I've been bitten by the bug as well. Which adapters are you guys using to run your binaries? I have a Datel Max Media Dock currently.
I've heard good things about the Supercard. I'm afraid that the Max Media Dock is a bit of a disappointment when it comes to running most of the homebrew out there. Hopefully the soon to be released revised libfat library will rectify this problem. The deluge of different adapters currently available on the market makes homebrew development a bit of a pain in the ass right now.
This shit is just too good. Will have to attempt something like this, but probably not to this scale!
With all the effort you've put in, it definately deserves to get picked up. Good luck dude.
ive been thinking about how to select level(in multiplayer)
and this is one solution ive come up with a bit like Final fantasys world map, its a minutre mediteranean, when two planes enter the space above a site (small little version of the levels) then battle will commence at that location.
Shepeiro, it's amazing what you can do within all these limitations. It shows that you're a true artist. It also explains a bit why the next-gen games can look damn ugly, even with all their normal mapping and ginormous textures.
It's all about style!
One small nitpick: the water might be a bit too contrasty and it might be hard to focus on the planes with all the sharp white detail going on.
lookin sweet, i would love to see more games utilize 3d on the DS.
I love my DS lite to bad it crapped out on me a couple days ago so im a little pissed! only had it for a couple months
two new planes a heavy bomber (to go against the Dabohaze) and a light bomber (which i will do another of)
the difference in game would be (apart from the obvious heavy-armoured-slow/lighter-notarmoured-faster) is that the heavy bombers have two gunning positions taht the gunner player can swap between. the light bombers will just have the one, but may have a fixed forward firing weapon aswell. this will leave bigger blind spots for the lighter fighters, but their speed and manuverability should make up for it. hopefully
I think some of your building textures are a little busy, you may want to simplify them or make elements of the texture larger, it's kinda hard to read.
you may be right but its also got to look good while flying through the streets, and you wont be able to see as far as in these shots, its gonna be ahrd to acheive the right ballance, between noise and getting the right scale
yeah, I understand, you dont want it to look like you can fly through the windows :P but it's also challenging since the DS doesnt do mip mapping or any sort of smoothing at all
I agree with tinman shep, I think it looks closer to how you should go with just the smoothed vert lit.. I reckon pull your textures back a bit. the vert lit city looks ace
hmmm you might be right. if i lower the contrast of the windows that might help.
well ive done a bit more in the mean time heres some shots.
TGZ-you should notice some more deco stylings in there, stolen from new yorks 3os skyscape, trouble with this type of building is that the overall style is very small repeating windows (stripey) which doesnt look too ace with no mip-mapping/filtering.

Flipping great work man. Great to see more fellow homebrewers out there making good stuff.
I wish I had a programmer to do the 3D stuff . I'll just have to learn it myself.
Keep up the good work and good luck to you.

it will be amazing if both gifs load at same time

Great work, Shepeiro : )
give me your low rez skillz!
can we got a free version to play :P hhaha
and a test scene of the vertex lighting working on the DS, its amazing what this little machine can do.

our export tools are now working quite well, so expext alot more of the content ive been showing actually in game. yay.
scroll to bottom of page
The only thing I think could be added would be some whispy contrails. I couldn't tell how fast or slow the plane was going when it was turning.
HAWT
loads of vertex lighting on this one.
currently 1200 tris, should be about 3k when done, so youll be able to see about 1/3-1/2 way across it (about the distance you see now.
B
done the roads,
and started on the buildings,
need more art deco feel to it, need more refs me thinks
Other than that its hot!
well ive done a bit more in the mean time heres some shots.
