Course he's smiling, he crapping all over the enemy!
got all the parts done and connected and cleaned up some. 4750 triangles, so I've still got some to play with. I'm going to add some alpha-planes for bristles all over his glands, and perhaps some barnacle-like protuberances on his legs.
Any ideas on what he could have to give him just a little nudge towards being more... civilized? I think his face holds intelligence, but I'm afraid he might not convey 'General' enough.
nice work Sec.
Want him to be a general/leader? Give him a crown.
Nothing like being The Big S*** from Uranus, ya know?
I swear one good thing about this entry is that the fecal jokes are in abundance and all fully warranted.
looking great so far sectaur, though i think it needs some proportional adjustments. i've been meaning to get back to a colored second pass on this concept, which would add a few more elements--but if you want to take it from here you're free to of course.
one thing i should point out that i don't think was clear from the concept--he has 3 legs, not two. the shaded leg in the profile drawings are his third leg, not his right leg moved back, though looking at it now i realize that's far from clear. that might cause problems for your budget though, so it's obviously up to you.
Well, While I await Gauss's reply, I thought I'd get down a concept I had been thinking of.
During the war, the Empire routinely strip-mined planets to fuel their massive productions, at first inflicting themselves only on those planets known to be uninhabited by sentient life. Towards the end of the great wars, when truly horrible weaponry demanded even greater supplies of materials, they began harvesting distant, uncharted planets. In their ignorance, the destroyed an entire race's way of life. Ordinarily intangible and invisible to our percieved realities, they were no less dependant on their ecosystem than we, and were under seige by enemies they couldn't know of. The remainder of their race pooled their resources and began work on what was the last ditch effort for their salvation. Their efforts produced an arcane armor, a half alive symbiote they don't fully understand, but which allows their greatest warrior to meld into our space. Effectively impervious to high-velocity projectiles, which pass through his flesh uninpeded, he relies on the traditional weapon of his order to carve his path through the melee.
The character is unique, but it seems naked. It's as though it needs some additional clothing or accessories to give it authority. As it stands, it seems like a drone turret. Pretty cool, but not a master of it's domain. I kinda like the blue guy anyway.
And for the finger guy... I love him. However I agree that he needs something general-ish. I doubt it's what you'd be looking for, but as a suggestion... a lion cloth or something with the polycount smilie? Just a suggestion, and possibly a bad one, but yea.
Whoa, that's looking awesome! I really like the second model you've done, especially the spikes on the shoulder armour. You mind if i use that idea for my character? My guy needs a serious makeover.
i think the crown looks pretty silly, so what i opted for instead were three precious gems inset into his forehead crest. within his alien society that's what distinguishes rank/authority. the other thing is that i'd wish you would add the third leg (and have not quite so many leg joints), but i understand if you're too far along to change it now. the only other amendments i think the model needs are for the arms to be a bit bigger, and the dorsal area of his torso should be wider, think of the body of a frog, but with more of a waist area instead of the legs plugging right into the body. the models look great and i hope you're able to finish both!
Gauss what do you think about spreading those jewels to other parts of the body/ making them more prominant? I think it's a great Idea but i think that they are a minor detail compared to the rest of this guy, all of his other features are very bold and stand out while the jewels are very tiny.
Oooooh, okay, things are a lot more apparent in the painting, definately going to go in and redo parts. Actually, looking at the painting again, I think he might be in need of a total revamping. Where does his third leg go when he's folded up in that position?

And progress on the model.
bah, I already see the bottom jaw needs to be redone.
Looking nice Sec.
After what you did with that stork I can't wait to see this.
4500 tris, still need to connect his limbs, and then go through and clean up the geometry.
Keep it up!

I name him "King poopy pants"
Good work!
Awesome though. I think the crown of spines would be cool.

I'd love to have a painted version of the concept, and there's plenty of time to tweak proportions.
I've kind of gotten used to him thundering around on two massive legs, though.
And to everyone else, one crown coming up!

Excuse me for a moment. . .
Err- Anyone have a tissue?
Here's another concept I scribbled out. Its really not a shameless bump to keep my thread from page three, honest...
Going to redo the head. not liking it at all.
Though I might just go ahead and unwrap him as is. [plus a crown]
I give you the War-Prince of Uranus!
Think I'm just about done, unless someone sees something I might want to change.
I feel like my anus-turret would be drinking pals with your tank-seal. Any ideas on what I could give him to make him a bit more General-ish?
head is still very much a WIP. he's aprox. 4650 tris now, but thats inlcuding a lot of him thats covered in the armor, and will be deleted.
