Ikraan: I think you could just get away with inverting the green channel in this case. You shouldnt have to remake the normal map. Besides it may render it differently than max did with the tweaks you made to the projection cage and your color maps may not line up anymore...
If you look at the green channel it will look as if there is a light cast on your texture map and you can see the model pop off the image. In doom/quake games the light in the green channel should be cast from the bottom... with the brightest parts being the undersides of the model. (thats the best way i can describe it in artists terms) If you look at your texture some parts look correct and some dont. Just check to see which parts are not correct and invert the channel. No need to remake the normal maps!

In regard to it's overall look being to fleshy, I wanted to make it look more like a centipeeds armor, something thats not completely rigid and hard but still protective. I plan to have some hard armored parts on it though, probably along the forearm and legs. Though most of that stuff probably wont be as apparently till I do a zbrush pass on it.
Nice stuff Darxbuddy. I'd like to see one or two areas where the edges get really sharp, but I'm digging it so far! Next time when you show wires, could you make it an unsmoothed faceted view? Just makes it a little easier to look at in my opinion(ish).

I think that I am pretty much done. I still want to play around with the heightmap and diffuse for the face and I see if I can rip some sound from the Appleseed DVD.
I've never played Q3 either, Snowfly, but Mop just posted a handy link to ALL THE CHARACTER SHEETS. No time at the moment, though I'll be sure to join in on the fun soon enough.
okay dug a little bit into this guy. i started out with a really low base mesh zack petroc style, and i find that it allowed me so much more freedom. i have also uploaded the base ztool for all to download if you want to zbrush it up. i find its a nice starting point for any humanoid meshes.

All this talk about Quake and the Shambler made me think of what Quake 5 should be like. My version:

I doubt I'll make a PPM for Q4, but if I did I would probably do this guy. He is somewhat inspired by Warhammer 40K Death Guard (with the old plastic backpacks) although no specific reference was used.
Naw, it looks fine. Though, I would put more of a unique twist on the viser for his eyes. That seems like something you could improve. Right now that area is sort of bland.
I like that cross-laced arm stuff you got there. Perhaps you could put that on his legs somewhere as well.

This is losely based off the Uriel model, going more of a minotaur'ish style. Plus putting a huge hoodie over a set of massive horns just sounds cool.. kinda like a jester.
Dunno, I personally think the Klesk model looks great. It really does need some work to make it look really hard and chitinous though. Do that and it will be super sweet.

I tried to stay as close as possible to the orginal blue skin.
