Hey chaps just practicing my rendering in photoshop trying to get some decent skin tones... no real thought went into the design... how can i improve my drawing in PS?
Im gonna stard doing stuff like this more i really need to improve my painting!
people are making some amazing stuff here! really motivating.
thats why i made one too =P my very first...took me 3 hours but i think it came out pretty decent.
Actually I'm starting to enjoy this more than digital painting/coloring... To some extend it's even faster. Something related to the impossibility to go crazy with zoom and anal pixel-wide detail I think!
Damn that nose is more croocked than mine!
Good job
You might wonna try out those goach stuff, its bascailly watercolor and crylics in one, you can get as translucent as watercolor and opaque as acrylics with it.
Shimmy, it was just plain opaque acrylics on this. Went out of control, I rather dislike the result!
Ghost, do you know how Coro actually works? I still don't understand how the guy manages to get such a luminance in his works. Impressive! Maybe someone here saw him working live?
Shot, I have a bit of gouache in here too. I actually mix up what I have at hand, ranging from Warhammer Citadel paint to airbrush ink, and gouache too... I don't want to buy any more supplies
some awsome paintings guys, KP your work is awsome especialy the girl in this thread. I always expect something wierd yet Its impressive how you can hit both opposites of the spectrum, beautiful pieces and some just obscene. This is my fatman kite, dont ask... I dont know myself.
Nice work Pior, my favorite is the quake-ised girl.
And I like the character design spacemonkey!
Posted this at sijuns' speedpainting tread, but might as well put it here. It's done in about 2 hours, no reference execpt the tree which is just outside my window.
good looking stuff ewooz. My favorate is the pale woman. one thing I notice that's missing in all your paintings is any brighter specular. It lends a dry dull air to the painting. It's not bad when that's what you are going for, but it's in all your paintings so I was just curious if you were doing that on purpose.
Spacemonkey, I can dig it. Seems very similar to your future tech girl you did, just a different era. I dig the shinguards and ribbon.
Thank you poopinmymouth. You're a star! That's the sort of crit I need You are right about the highlight issue. I think it is often hard to notice trouble in my own work, therefore is your pointing out issues really crucial. Here's a wip of what I did with the last image in the line, I tried to add more lightsources as well. Please point out anything else you think I need to improve in my work. As I am eager to get my photoshop paintings better
Tulkamir> i actually like that charcoal drawing. There are some issues with the perspective, but with practice that will be dealt with.
Renaud>Its an improvment from that first face. But I suggest that you start using reference, perhaps try to draw yourself from the mirror. That's something that will improve your work even greater. And I found a lot of help in Hogarths books on how to draw faces and humans. He has observed things that are crucial for non reference drawings. But I always tend to use reference, even for cartoony stuff.
Ewooz - Thanks very much man! I'll try to pay more attention to my perspectives in the future, and I'm really glad you like it.
And just figured that I should say that you guys are amazing. I'd like to comment on other peoples art, but I'm really not qualified, so just like to say that you guys have some amazing stuff, and this thread really shows it. And I'd like to thank you for it, stuff like this is a huge motivation to me. Makes me wanna get my ass in gear so I can do something like that in the not-so-near future.

the calm glide or the fall inward
I like it.

Just messing around
An ugly fugly try at acrylics, I don't master highlights at all... better luck next time
Another technique, thin watercolor on top of pencil rendering
... and had some fun quake-ising her in PS :
Need practice!

Started another.
Broad pencil strokes > smudging > alcool markers > watercolor washes > acrylic shapes > highlights.
Fun!
Good job

Plus, its fun to rub it on your nipples.

Keep them coming Renaud Galand, you'll improve as you go. Nice one dude considering the fact it's your first.
EDIT: Not a speedpainting anymore, since I've done some detail work on this.

Here's a real fast one, no ref, me messing with values and contrast.
And here's a giant business jet, soon to be realised by Airbus :P
