I also wanted to say you framed the face and head nicely. Great design element even if you didn't notice you did it. Now that I look at it again, the arms do throw it off a bit. Maybe next time you could put them criss-crossed in front of him or possibly in some sparatic pose, maybe framing another part of the composition that you want the viewer to notice.
30 mins, messing around in Photoshop. The 2nd last step was the final painted layer set to Hard Mix with the previous WIP painted layer, it was an accident but I liked the result, so kept it
Woke up today in kind of a bad mood, and found the speed painting thread, so I thought I'd work something up. I generally find that creating artwork is sort of a natural anti-depressant for me...so here ya go...probably about an hour and a half or two in Photoshop
I havent had much opportunity to do any recently - however I was pretty determined and spent 4 hours on this tonight.
I have allot of stages saved so I can show ppl if you guys are interested. I took a hard brush approach, made a deliberate effort not to zoom in and painted it just slightly larger than the rez I am posting.
Hope you like it.
This is my first post on polycount and the first time I've ever tried photoshop drawing so go easy on me. I saw this thread and liked the effects you guys were getting so I thought I'd give it a try - I used Adobe Photoshop Elements...
The really colourful one in the middle was a multicoloured piece that I got frustrated at and decided to blast it with the 'impressioninst's brush' and 'smudge' tools. By the time I'd finished it was unrecognisable splodge of bright primary colours. I selected a really fine detail smudge brush and used it to move the messed up colour round until I got a face. The only colour I added to the picture was a little black to define some of the features like the eyebrows and the mouth.
This is 1hr 30. I am sure I remember one of Broms paintings being similar but the bondage thing seemed to work with the crap pose.. I need some life drawing classes ;/
BoneGrinder, welcome to the forum. A good way to improve and focus your speed paintings is to grab some photos and use them are refs.
this took about 45mins to do and is still a WIP... its my first image EVER generated using The Gimp(tm). So this is sort of a getting-a-feel-for-the-program-image... but I think i might finish it out and then take it into photoshop for fine tuning.
killingpeople I love how you paint, would it be possible for us to show a step by step progress to get some insight on how to paint better and such, would be great ? thanks allot in advance anywas
some aristocrat creature who likes sugar and honey and fancy clothes. I don't know, pretty much first painting like this I've done, I think it ended up a little Jason Manley. Didn't mean to, but hey I'll watch it for next time..
hey kp, cool stuff. spacemonkey, that last piece is sick. i love it. and shotgun, cool bird man. i really dig the colours
i only had like 15-20 minutes to work on this one since i'm running late for work. take it easy all. look forward to seeing some more cool stuff
First post, got some inspiration from nkoste's concepting thread:
First time I've tried anything like this on the computer even though I've had a wacom intous2 for nearly three years. Usually I just do photomanips. Though I've been lurking about here for a couple of years picking up stuff.
Some of these paintings are incredible! I've heard of far worse looking images selling for thousands! I may have that Optimus pic printed and framed in my room!
