Time for a new community sketch thread so I'll start...I just got back from vacation and I filled up a small drawing pad, so here's pretty much my entire Christmas sketchbook of headstudies in a single page...
Damn KP awesome shade handling you have... The highlight on the guys latex glove is soo sexy! Very good pice to learn stuff from, thanks for posting man.
This one is supposed to be waiting in the briefing room :
Bird, Killingpeople, Pior... really outstanding stuff. I love it. NoSeRider, those are retro-cool too... looking at those sends me back to 70's and 80's comics...
Here's some stuff I was drawing today, felt pen and fineliner in my A4 sketchbook... Most are from photo reference (I love google image search! )
Killingpeople.. very nice piece. Not only rendered well, but the story and feelings it has behind it. I just love the old mans expression and tounge sticking out, the fact hes a #1 dad and not a #1 grandpa was a nice touch. I think you avoided the cliche by doing that. It makes it more emotional.
amazing KP, i love it.
Pior i think i see some sort of capcom/megaman influence in your dude with the big pants, cool stuff.
MoP those are some great exercise sketches keep it up.
Here's some doodles I've been doing in my boring winter semester class:
I only have my camera here and it might take a bit to load..
I wish I could color like Hung Tae Kim, must learn painter..
thanks swampbug, the #1 dad pin came from where my mind was primarily, great observation. people around me do not give old people the respect they truly deserve, senile or wise, they've put up with a lot of bullshit. people my age are more concerned with sex and looking like movie stars. i am no better a human, i have the same cultral appetites. it made for a good subject to ponder over while sketching.
love the sumo armor steady.
MoP, i thought the top right dude you sketched looks very similar to me these days.
Hey Mop, neat colors you have here. I guess it's rather hard to handle pastel-esque colors of this kind? I like the effect on the top-right-colored... Sweat strokes Paul
Steady, hmmm why not actually... I'm not the 'grew up with megaman' kind, but the X-series sure had a great influence back in the days. And playing the old Rockmans from the Nes time is soooo damn fuuun!
Killing, funny to hear about style ... The actual 'style' of your Oldman piece sortof 'clicked' for me, I realized that maybe I could try and use this little brand new paper smudgestick I've been having for years without making any use of it. I tried to 'render' here, it's all new for me...
Lady Marmelade :
And two bald guys... one has a '1' labelled on him, for 'KP for #1 !'
cricket!? i like the lines in your sketch, they have a stylish graphic quality to them. they remind me of the lines used in some aeon flux drawings, but much tighter.
pior, awesome dude nicely done.
after helping a friend with some digital painting, i had to paint something
This one just saw a space mermaid. Or maybe he just came back to earth and see a real girl for the first time in a while... All in one a stupid looking Spaceman :P
And another rendering test:
Shot, yeah her boobs are of the solid kind Besides that, I can't see your images, I have 6 red Xs here
mr. toast: not only does the old guy have a boner, but death is totally staring at it. 5 stars, kill, 5 stars.
and i do also enjoy the digital sketchy sketch at the top of this page--it's hard to manage a nice composition with that many 'busy' elements but it's still very eye pleasing. nice work.
cep: great work buddy, glad i could watch the beginning of that design
and killing, you're killing me. you're handling your painting with visibly increasing skill--the bowtie piece is really striking and well rendered. keep posting and--as my one of my professors would say--keep drawing like your hair is on fire.

well, I have enough courrage to post my scetchwork next to yours
The problem I have is with the inconsistancy of my doodels, allthough some of them are a bit older I cant seem to get an overall good basequality
Page fulla heads, huh? Sounds like a challenge to me. Not as easy as it sounds.
Here's a couple heads I did yesterday at the museum.
Paul, are we gonna do the Sketch Group thing on Sunday?

All from my sketchbook. Took advantage of my cruddy scanner and used the greytones that were scanned in and edited with Photoshop.
just an odd little sketch. call it 'experimental' i guess and nice work nose, keep on rocking.
Hmmm I think I like the untouched pencil version better now ...
Gauss, I really like this last 'experiment'. Anything else of the same kind?
HAMMER TIME :D

I concur
Boo!
(Ahhh yeah Shot, I can see them now... Real nice!)
Just a normal 2B pencil on some cheap paper.
A little Legacy of Kain fan art...

Killing people, You are ripping up this thread!

About a hour and a half
Shotguns have to be my favorite, killing's rock, and same with poirs
Killing that ps sketch is very nice. I love the colors and his arm bands. 8-)
Shotgun you are crazy and you know I love it.
Cricket, great linework. 8-)
Ghost, it's a simple gradient overlayed in PS... just in case if you were wondering whether the effect was natural media or digital
Don't know the original name of this mode tho... i'ts here on the list :
Maybe something like 'point light?'
Grads are often hideous in digital art but I find that in this case they make wonders, especially if you plan on coloring the piece further later on.
Gotta run!
That´s mine
I think I'll finish it, and color it, maybe.
ryan77: thanks for the heads up, I'll just use the webspace my ISP gave me instead of freeweb from now on.
I'm going to go cry now.. little bastid!
