Man that's totally crazy!! I'm not even a carhead or whatsoever, but i really like your project, your polished scans are so clean!! I really look forward to see more, is there a way to see all the pieces you already scanned together? Great job!
This uses two material IDs. One for the smooth sections of tube, and another is a sculpt/bake for the shock towers and tiling weld strips. It splits up like this:
The result is pretty good considering how much surface area there is on the all of those tubes. MatID1 has a 2k normal map and 2k mask texture. MatID 2 just has a 1k mask texture. Paint color and dirt/damage levels are configurable from sliders in the material.
Also I put together a video on how i am sculpting welds:
That menu love it. Should have thought about it before ! Also really like the deterioration preview with the 3d scan. What causes this super low fps? Just the recording settings?
I haven't tried OBS yet. When I want to make higher quality videos i capture at 4k with nvidia shadow play. I'll check out OBS though, it would be nice to have another option.
Aw yeah, downloading now and will take it for a spin during my lunch break. I've been following your work on this for awhile now and am excited to check it out in action.
Just tried it, feeling of bolting smthing is just so satisfying!! Finished the tutorial and got lost in the main engine (forgot to use parts scanner hehe and got no real knowledge in mechnics), it's really good! Definitely in love with your tools selection menu, and the fact you can let them levitate in the air but also just throw them away. Playing a bit too much with the oil decreased my framerate despite my specs, but well, we're not supposed to pour it everywhere like that Overall quality is awesome. Look forward to see more, curious about the kind of content you can/ think/ could add?

What CPU and GPU are you running? Also, were you running default graphics settings or did you turn them up in the settings app?
And this is the box the workbench parts come in. I now have a pretty versatile cardboard box material. I can vertex paint in tape, dirt, and the locations I want graphics:
More content. This time it's the intake manifold out to the air filter. A few years ago i started designing an intake manifold for naturally aspirated cars and I got to piggy back off of that and realize it as a virtual part.
A few other notes- I made the silicone elbow material a tiling setup so now I can make all the hoses and elbows I with just lowpoly modeling.
I also have spent a bunch of time working on engine bay cosmetic parts including an alternative valve cover and a few dress up bits.

Have you tried OBS studio for screen recording? Works great for me

Congrats, all the best with it.
An awesome project and those rough cast textures are blowing my mind ATM
Cheers.
