Front upper control arm. I did this highpoly model about a year ago when I was testing out different workflows. This one is all modeling/sculpting and no scan data:
Garage updates. Now with more variety. I have to resist the temptation to keep working on the garage since I am sure I will be making large scale changes as I develop the gameplay further.
Please add in a model of a Mazda 3 door handle to replace, mah goddamned interior handle snapped something inside and now I have to put my arm through the window to open it and I don't want to pay $200 for a $3 part replacement!
This is looking great Alec, one usability suggestion is to highlight the piece you are about to pull off since you can attach parts on parts on parts. I would think it would be the same color as the cylindrical pointer coming out of the mitts.

That is probably a good idea but getting that to work might be tricky with my current system. Right now I use a capsule collision volume to activate the pointer. The actual grab is done with a sphere trace that matches the dimensions of the activation capsule. The collision check isn't accurate for picking out which object to grab in an assembly since it tends to get occluded objects. I think I would have to regularly fire off traces before the grab trigger was pressed.
I could flash a color on the receiving object when a grab was attempted. Basically on click instead of on hover.
That is the raw scan, I haven't done any cleanup of the cylinder head. That was 741 photos which took 19 hours to process. I'm getting a 1080ti so hopefully that will cut my processing times by ~30%.

Feels like you might be missing the microscratches typical of a machined mating surface, but could just be the view/render/lighting. Aaaaaand I really want the title of the game to be made up of scanned parts that resemble the letters
I had the same thought and did a polish pass on the materials this morning. This is a little more surface variation now: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/4QPVk
Nice progress man, All the best with the project! Dont know if you fixed the unwrapping issue but I know iin max you can split UVs by smoothing group, or you can use select by angle in the poly sub object to quickly select islands which have geo under an angle threshold.
Man its fun to watch the progress of this. Personally for me I could not stop imagining the concept of bathing yourself in engine oil and basking in its warm embrace.

Joke aside, Great job so far!

I also fixed a bunch of bugs in my game which I detailed here:

Cylinder head scan:
Built some new shelving for my workshop:
How long did the scan take to get a working mesh and how long did the cleanup take of the cylinder head?
Please carry on. That is all.
Questions:
How did you scanned the Gloves, especially the more hidden areas?
I tried it out by myself, but the green marked areas didnt turned out great!
Any Tips?
Thanks

I would need to have the programmer I am working with implement them in handplane first and he is pretty busy building game systems right now.
