@instg8r Yes ! There is an option that will totally preserve the source geometry and it’s called : “Max 2019”. Autodesk audit our team for that fix, and they did it the good way inside Max 2019 ! Thanks Autodesk and Michael Spaw.

I got some free time this weekend so I decided to resurrect him from the 'project graveyard' and pose/render him. I just thought I'd put it here for posterity. I plugged Keyhydra and put a link to your page in the Artstation project.

10:47AM: New AutoGrid cutters so that you won't have to switch contexts to add primitives and convert them to cutters, and at the same time, you see the cutting result as you drag.
10:49AM: Wrap/Conform modifier, what's shown here is capturing a mesh before adding holes and using that as a projection target so that you have nice and clean mesh after you add holes and subdivide.
10:50AM: Image reference window that you can set click-through and set its transparence to use as an overlay reference. If there's image data in the clipboard, it will use that (so you can winkey+shift+s some region of a photo and open it here) or you can load a picture from disk - or you can load a gif as show here (but then if you rotate/flip it, it won't play anymore).
10:51AM: Circular clone modifier with bend and slice options so that you can work on a straight segment and bend accordingly with the changing number of clones.
We also started working on using our 3 main plugins for same goal. (Bridging them, in the way that the power of one can be usefull to the others).
First available feature will be Lazercut taking advantage of WheelCtrl. Where users can control the amount of segments with middle mouse button in real time while creating a cutter.
Of course all KeyHydra modifiers are fully compatible with Lazercut and can be used to modify cutters shapes. But they can be used for tons of other things non hard surface related as they are real modifiers ;-)

KeyHydra new build is already compatible with 3DSMax 2021, we didn't updated the website yet but the build was compatilbe day one.
Autodesk didn't broke the SDK this time so no plugin recompilation were needed, however, we had to update the installer with correct paths etc ...
The trial is now available for 30 Days without any other sort of limitations. [Was 15 days before, with some limitations].
We are still actively comited to KeyHydra and our mains focus are 4K compatiblity, new UI, better learning curve, and full rewriting of all our tools in C++ [when possible].

Hey Massimo, have you looked into componentizing KeyHydra? It makes things much easier. I'm even doing it with my maxscripts. I can have the scripts in one place, edit them and they work for every Max version. Let me know if you need info on it.
Not sure to understand. Can you develop Martin ? We currently already split our code in « components ». But in the end we do provide an Nsis installer for clients. Roman and Vojtech do work than I cook the version. For V2 we have a Git account. So if based on all those informations you still think it is worth it. I might be interested.

What I did: I used Array, set it to preview and changed the values, than I saw that it was cutting while removing the cylinders. Undoing it crashed Max If I shift clone as instances and Undo no crashes so far. I wanted to use Array to have better control (I love using numbers )

Don't use Array, it creates and deletes objects on the fly without undo records which is incompatible with max Booleans that we're using. If you prefer to use numeric input, you can use Linear Clone modifier (or multiple stacked above each other if you want n-dimensional cloning) or alternatively if you'd for some reason want to keep the new clones as separate objects, use KeyHydra -> Tools -> Clone Nodes (Numeric or by Helper) - it has the same interface as the modifier but the new objects are separate instances. Unlike Array, it also prevents the clones from being automatically added as new boolean objects causing unexpected issues so you'd set the desired spacing/transforms, select the clones you want to use as cutters and use Make Cutter from Selection (either in the Lazercut menu or Lazercut UI under the Utilities rollout).
Otherwise, do you know that you can clone as instance and increase the amount of numbers in order to have as many clone as you want.
And or you can use KeyHydra linear clone modifier and or circular clone modifier and or both at same time. It will cover a lot of case and will be better than array tool.

So I used the linear clone modifier on the cutter object and that made my object disappear, I start feeling bad. There is no error message.
*edit* but the object comes back if insert values in the modifier my bad sorry
Right now, there's no offset so in the place of the object is two overlapping meshes (the original and the copy) - this sometimes doesn't play well with booleans but it doesn't make it crash. Set some values in the type-in part.

switch to « Last Clone » instead of First clone and use a « Scène Helper » as Last Clone. Once you move the « Scene Helper » object will re appear
