Been lurking this thread from day one, needless to say, I am really liking this guy. The hunchback--shunned to the top of a tower is a cool place to take this contest. I do agree with @.CSM and I DEFINITELY agree with @Felixenfeu . For real though, I think the ropes digging into the skin is a nice touch. Have you thought about giving him a bag or two filled with bird feed or something a kin to that that can hang off of him? I think it would not only add a bit more to the silhouette of the character but it would also add a bit to the story, like he's really only able to attract bird friends because he has food for them. So deep.
@chaselt I like that bag of food idea! I would interpret that element as the hunchback's care towards the birds, which is a really nice addition to his personality!
I have hit the wall with him a bit and feel like I am loosing a little momentum, so thanks for the uplift
@ CHASLET : Thanks for the idea. I did think about adding a pouch of bird seed or bread crumbs, but decided against it for whatever reason. However now that you mention it I feel like I can't not do it. Thanks
I can feel the pressure around the ropes. Nice work with the clothes and accesories. The idea you're trying to give us with the composition looks much better in every update. Tones of fun in this threat
Just giving away my two cents tips again. I like the smaller bag. For me the smaller bag the one which makes him look larger. (Small size of a prop (eg. a cellphone) makes the carrier look bigger, a bigger prop makes the carrier look smaller. Same as heads. Small heads: illusion of big body. Big heads: illusion of small body.) The bag isn't a significant element which is another reason to keep it smaller, + birds don't eat that much. However, the amount of rope looks better with the bigger bag.
@ .CSM : Thanks for the feedback. I get what you mean. I think I will go with the larger bag for the moment, have it as more of an all purpose kind of a deal...... but perhaps I will change it a bit later :smile
I am totally stuck in detailland at the moment but I have, Added some stuff and sculpted some stuff. Need to pull back on those finger veins. Not too much more left to do on him but I gotta get to those cloths....soon.
Impressive work and the posing is really cool ! I would just say that two birds makes it harder to read, it was working better with only one bird. That's just my advice tough, the whole art is still awesome
dont stress is if you feel you dont have too! I think its looking pretty good though, but I have two notes; it feels really monochrome, and also like he is in some sort of pirates of the Caribbean movie/sewer system, rather then high up on the rooftops, which makes having the bird there kind of weird.
Thanks for all of the super kind words and feedback.
Good luck to everyone that finished and the best of luck to you all.For what it is worth here is where he ended up. It is fun playing in Blender. I hope you like it.

@ FELIXENFEU : hah ....well there does need to be some realism. Otherwise the audience won't buy the story
not much of an update. Just tried to bury the ropes into his body a bit, and tried to add some weight and expression to his screen left (globe) foot.
more soon.

I made a pouch
more soon.
@ LLROBINILL : Thanks
playing with scale...feels better to me......makes him feel larger.

One of my favourites!

So I have pretty much decided to bow out of the comp....but I still intend to finish.
here is where he is at the moment. Blender renders. Pretty quick background for testis.
Still so much to do, but he is getting there.
Thanks again everyone.
I may stop posting updates here since I will no longer be competing.
Why??
I figure I should try to get as much feedback as possible.
Still going with this...plenty more to go but I am starting to figure out my direction with the final shot.
guess I will keep posting here... try and get as much feedback as I can.... even though I am out of the comp.
more soon.
are the loose threads on the clothes alpha cards or is there a fur layer on it ?

Superb work man!
