@ AANKRUWET : I don't think I understand the question. He is still just dynamesh. I am going to wait until I have locked down the proportions and mirror stuff like the hands and feet once I have sculpted nails and such. Then a quick ZRemesh, pose, then final sculpting time.
@ SLOSH : hehe...... yeah. I kind of torn on that one. I would like some cloth and once there is a bit then why wouldn't he cover the junk..... I don't know.. maybe he just doesn't...need to think.
Even though he is supposed to be really strong, I think I am liking he a little more skeletal. Quick test on the arm.
Thanks again everyone. Hope I get some more time for this soon.......sooo much more to do.
@ MIEZIS : Thanks. the test poses were done with ZSpheres, but yeah the pose he is in at the moment is on a layer. Probably going to bake it in and continue. I like to work as losslessly as possible.
OK so I am hitting the wall a little with time. Thought I might try a few little cloth sims in Blender....just to get me started. Not really too happy with them at the moment....Kind of looks like he just threw a cloth over his head.( is that too poor or pretty accurate for a less than poor shutin of that era?)...needs more thinking... Locked off the pose and started extra sculpts.
even if you dont like the hood scarf thingie I I think it looks really good on him, (even if it does kinda look like someone dropped a towel on his head lol) I def think your on the right track.. btw what are your plans for the bird? are you going to make a more realistic version or are you sticking with that adorable ball of fluff you have right now?
@ .CSM : Thanks so much, You are all way too kind.
@ FANTASYMASTER : haha yup. That was my key ref.
@ LOTET : Yeah. I think my issues with the rag was that it looked a little too "placed" I think I have addressed my issues with it now though....I hope. Not sure about the bird. I like it the way it is now and I plan to make a few more but I am not sure if maybe it is too much of a different style. Even IF he stays more stylised, there will be more to add.
Bit of a pointless update from me. Slight pose tweek so you can get a little more of a read on his "screen left" arm (needs some fixing). Decided to double down on the hoods and added some drawstrings. I would like to add the gloves and call the cloth blocking done. The it will be onto the weatherveinthinga'madoo.
great... not a fan of the cloth over the screen right part of the face - feels a bit too obtrusive and straight, sort of detracts from the face especially that his fingers point to it too
Hah! this is ace Duncan. I love the bird...nice touch! I think what Intervain says makes sense...the cloth sort of hides the awesome silhouette of his face. Like you said, if it was blowing away from his face or something where it didn't hide that contour, it could work a lot better. Plus, being high up(which I assume he is), I would definitely expect his cloth to be blowing more in the wind. Really love where this is going!
@ SLOSH : Thanks. Yeh wind was always going to be in the mix. I like the cloth and I think it add some nice layers to the character. In some ways I don't mind if it covers his face a little. Only because he would naturally want to hide his appearance when outdoors, and yeah the wind will do what it wants. I quite like where it is at the moment though it still needs torn edges and details etc.
@ RAVENSLAYER : Thanks very much.
Played with the wind added rope business and started on the WeatherveinThingamadoo. I wanna dig the ropes in a bit. I am thinking about it now and I can't think of anything to add or remove from him so I guess it is just details time.

another quick costume..I think I prefer a more structured hood to the scarf. gotta stop playing dress ups and get back to the sculpt.
more soon.
Absolutely love it.
I love it
how did you manage the polycount? did you dynamesh again or just make a new subdivision?
