For example, yesterday I decided to paint a portrait of my wife at lunch. I knew it wasn't right at all and I didn't want to spend an age trying to fix it, so when I got home I just started a new one. Even though it's still a work in progress and has plenty wrong going on, I really enjoyed the fresh start and I feel like it's clearly paid off.
I did just work on it over lunch too, which I guess is kind of cheating.
@Stinkhorse I really like the deep cavern look. Do you have any more work online of your dungeon crawler? Would be cool to see.
@LUTZBOT Are these pics for anything in particular, or just for fun/study?

Here is one I threw together on Tuesday. Any crits?
Ancient Greek set with the character Sappho !
I used pencils on the bg and fine markers on the character before adding values in PS. Notes on the design I placed a quill and a jewellery container ('pyxis') on a three legged table although I didn't find information on ancient Greeks using other than reed pens and tables were used for eating not placing valuables. I designed the vase off of a wine jug ('oinochoe') and placed Madonna lilies inside again for a more decorative use. I'm not sure if the window sills should be facing outwards but I think this picture communicates the modern look I was going for.
On deciding Sappho's look I wrote a couple of lines on my blog:

Now that I've drawn Sappho I'd like to post some more of my vase designs or maybe patterns after I've finished cleaning them with computer...

Trying to get better at doing scenes with a greater focus on story and composition.. Pretty sure I messed up the perspective on the second one though.
