Awesome stuff And thanks for the feedback Vieldmon & koen!
I'll post WIP of larger illustrations here from now on as suggested, and portfolio paintings or whatever get a thread I suppose, makes good sense that way. Good distinction from the sketch thread.
I almost ALWAYS finish pieces the day after a recap, all but ensuring that my work is long forgotten by the time the next one rolls around. Oh well, as Stan Bush used to say NEVER SURRENDER!
Here's a sketch I did of a character I drew in 7th grade. Decided to vamp up some features I thought were interesting. I like the manga art style a lot :poly136:.
Hey, It's me again. I decided on making a monster thing based on a pic I saw off the web. Essentially in a series I plan on making he is a villain but unfortunately his concept besides his look is pretty early.
Thanks for the reply Jordi, I plan on drawing even better concepts, I just need some more work on folds of clothing, anatomy in perspective and subtle detail I find. Best of luck to you as well :poly136:
N&B values study from N.C Wyeth's work. This kind of study is one of the fastest and best "101 illustration practice habit" I can think of :
(edit: hmm, should this had been posted in the "sketch" thread? I'm kind of confused cause I see more or less the same kind of stuff in both threads... oh well.)
Essentially after 2 days or so of not drawing, I'm busy lol.
I have created through a burst of inspiration (I want my character's
hair to look ridiculous!) I have created the god child prodigy
Hecatoncheir.
Essentially yep he has a scepter/ maybe also a sword, used a 8 head
scale kinda abandoned it after the face part (oh well) XD. I am going
to add some more detail (clothing folds and added roughness, I'll
see where it goes.
Wanted to give you guys a peek at least so far (just stopped drawing it
now, started 15 minutes ago, will work on it again once I get some more inspiration xD.):)
I nearly forgot about the 2d section! I was about to post this in the 3D. The habits... the habits...
So here's a matte painting I finished. Its a non official concept art for Ryse. Its just based on a place in Ryse and its design language. Here you go:
If you get bored and dont feel like polishing a design ADD MORE FILTERS. ( Please dont do that.) I dont do guns much so I might go back and tighten up the design of all the bits.
Second time posting in the concept section here is my latest, still want to add a bit more to it and refine some areas a bit more. Please let me know what you think i am still very new to this concept art stuff this was heavily influenced by Eduardo Pena, as i am still learning alot and trying to understand how other artists get to the final product the griffin needs a lot of love!
Hey, Sharvo. Your concept work is looking pretty good, loving the atmostphere!
In regards to this particular piece, I'd recommend using more reference for your griffin.
There are quite a few anatomy issues, in particular related to the bird half. Cross check the leg area with that of a real bird, and I think the gap under the wings breaks up the silhouette too much and makes it look a little awkward.
Lastly, the birds in the distance aren't giving the effect of scale that I think you were going for; they just look tiny because they're in front of a tree that seems like it's pretty close. I'd move that tree over a little to the right so it eliminates the possibility of accidentally looking like it's coming out of the tree clump closer to the foreground there, or perhaps move the birds over to around where the lightsource is coming from, which looks much more like an open clearing.
Keep it up! Looking forward to seeing more, your work has promise.

Here's my latest environment concept. Yes, its the infamous waterfalls from nowhere, lets just say that this place gets a lot of rainfall.
Anyway, check out my artstation for the WIP (I started form a Worldmachine + CE3 base, which was pretty fun)
