Mihal you always come up with excuses to any criticism someone gives you on your work. Listening to their crits could really help to improve your work.
Jalcober: If you look thro the pages of this thread , you will see that I am verry receptive to criticism .
Allso , I made a point in the last post that there is a diference between ,my stufs and contracted stuffs ,where I have to work with they'r vision/ideas .
I guess that's where we have different opinions. I think that when doing contract work, it's part of our job to push for the highest quality. If we don't, the workshop becomes flooded by low quality contract submissions that get in just because they're attached to a name which is what I wanna avoid at all costs.
What really bugs me is that you definitely have the skill to do really high quality work, but it seems like you just don't want to. If you took some more time with your development, you'd definitely be at a point where pretty much every single item you make gets in even without being contract work.
Vampires in the dota 2 world should be similar to night stalker. Frankly you cannot have dire creatures (vampires) trying to be good radiant creatures (like wardog) just by its facial expression, there should be more influence from one side. It looks like the design of the vampire takes little to nothing from the dire or the radiant styles.

Being constructive here, I pretty much agree with Spudnik on this. I know your past work very well and lately, you are indeed declining quality wise. You have so much potential, push it to the limit mate!
Spudnik : I guess we do have diferent oppinions ; alltho I dont see the contract work as a desperate way to get some things in ,or did I ever say that I would make the courier low quality / rush it .
GhostDetector : It sounds far from harsh . You have a good point , but I think these restrictions are more of a hero design thing. From what I've seen , couriers have a more freedom "lore wise" . Ive seen from wooden dolls to the death ripper thing .
update :
finished a WK blade for this months contest:) Wraith Infested King Sword by mihalceanu
and some update on the courier , still got stuffs to do texture wise , but waiting for my friend to rigg it so we could solve any 3d issues that may occur
i wonder if death animation using death prophet will be nicer.
also if spawn animation the thing like making it stiffer maybe looks nicer like those classic cartoon :P
agito666 : we changed the death anims to fit him a bit better:)
MdK : I wanted to give him a cute/ playfull vibe:) and have his head in the flight version aswell
update :
I just finished the vampire courier , waiting for a bit to submit it
Spudnik : Thre are good coments in the thread aswell as bad ones ;but I gota give you the fact that they didnt liked that it was a humanoid .
I will restrain from using humanoid couriers as much as possible in the future (mostly couse I found out that animals tend to be more liked in the comunity ), and I will try to stlylize them more /give them more originality.
These said , I am still happy how the little vampire turned out , but will try to improve my next one more .
about the lorebreaking complaints I will just leave you with this :
Just because someone else didn't follow the guidelines doesn't mean you are allowed to, so don't use that as an excuse. That ward fits dota more than that vampire does anyway.
I think a vampire-themed courier/character works fine in the world of Dota, but the design he went with doesn't fit too well. I think it's all in the clothes/gear the vampire has. From the classy glasses to the nice pants and shoes, it all seems way too real-world. Dota has more of a makeshift, fantastical look to its clothing. You would never see a bag that nice in Dota's universe I don't think.
Edit: Meaning he could have kept the character himself pretty similar to how it is now, but in a more Dota-inspired vampire outfit.

Can't agree enough. That is the absolute laziest excuse someone can come up with. "This item doesn't follow the guidelines, so why should I?" is just a way to ignore criticism and shift the blame from what you did. And honestly, this is pretty much what Spudnik said, which is that your stuff isn't improving, and it looks like you just keep dodging the criticism you're getting.
I really like your work, but I have to agree with everyone else when they say that the vampire doesn't fit Dota. You have a lot of great work, but all of those tournament items you've been doing recently just look really uninspired and bland.
Ask anyone and they'll tell you that wards and courier can be as :poly142: as they want and they can get away from breaking the lore. I mean Valve themselves released PORTAL wards...PORTAL. Now we complaining about Vampire couriers? Can never please these people. :poly127:
Jalcober, darkkyo, belkun : You do realise that this is a valve oficial courier right?I guess 30 mm film is part of the lore you keep talking about . I understand that you dont like the last courier , but please stop hiding behind the lore bullshit; .
I know it's from Valve, but still, what difference does it make? It's still a lazy excuse to make unfitting items. If we follow your logic, we should just throw every guideline out of the window and do whatever we want, just because one item ingame doesn't respect the "rules" to their fullest extent.
I think the golds in the armor need to go more red-orange, they look very yellow in places right now. The feathers need more painted in shadows and ambient occlusion so it looks like the feathers are laying on top of each other and arent all in the same plane.
Yeah, I agree with Spud. I think you did a nice job with the model, but the textures need some work. The gold on his default armor have some mode red as Spud said. The wings also look really flat.
I really like the set so far! Just some texture adjustments are needed to make it really shine.
Much better, I think it's getting there! But you can still push a bit more of orange on the gold IMO. Check his default set colors, should help a lot there, and maybe a tweak on the blue, since it looks a bit too monochromatic. Also, do you plan on using some alpha on the wings? They look too blocky.
belkun : yep I am gonna use alpha mask for the wings ; gonna add some blue/greenish gradients to the armor to break the plainess and gonna try to push the orange .
Nice courier, the flying death anim is a bit slow, but overall quite solid. It's a bit comical, but I think it works. Question about the textures though, they look quite different from your sual, did you do textures as well here?

Hello Spud, I'm in charge of the concept/textures. :>
Back to the main topic, a gorgeous cosmetics featured in a hero portrait is a great cosmetics! It's a viable move to push the value contrast higher, really diggin' this.
Allmost done with the textures .
The courier is ment for the winner of the "Korean Dota League Season 1" so the loggo is 50/50 to remain hehe.
Taking a work/everything break for about 2 weeks (until the dreamhack 2014:)), so I guess this is the last update till then
Yeah, I agree with POTM, the eyes are kinda weird right now.
They seem rather flat, looks like we are always looking at it from the front and the purple eyelid didnt help.
I really like Shock's suggestion. Looks much much better without those eyelids and with some fur around it instead. A lot more natural than your current version.

This may sound harsh.

Pretty much the reaction I predicted. Please man, you have the skill, don't sell yourself out to mismatched ideas. Quality > quantity.

Gajun: Indeed
Since you aren't a gaben, I don't think you have similar authority.
