Had a nightmare, slept like crap, my sleep schedule's all messed up, and I just generally feel gloomy today. I was supposed to start on some art today but, ugh.
Another year ticked off, because I'd just realised my birthday is today and if like me you're on the wrong side of 55, it's enough I should think to make anyone feel crap
during the holiday the school in my neighborhood upgraded their loudspeaker system. Now I have the joy of waking up to military music and the Chinese national anthemn at full blast, every day...fml
epic scumbag poser of a client: "can you make a custom AAA quality sculpt, model and rig for less than i can by on unity store? If I have to Incan pay as much as 300 dollars.

Lol....this happens all the time. "It'll be great exposure for you!"
Been nursing a tooth that needs root canal treatment, can't believe that I can't wait and looking forward to go to the dentist and get a root canal. I'm getting old.
Hey ma, reading your posts actually made my day! To think one can be at that age and still enjoy doing art, it just seems great overall. What age have you vets start doing this whole 3D or even art thing?

Heh...considering this thread's premise, your reply probably deserves a cross post on the feel good one as well
Anyway I transitioned across from a traditional fine art background around 2004'ish after grabbing a copy of Blender to see for myself what the medium had on offer, needless to say the bug bit deep result being working off-'n-on part time freelance since, although had a 4yr break due to illness (...touch wood everything looks A Okay thus far) so currently getting back up to speed refreshing game dev workflows alongside learning new ones, somewhat...to wit is wholly dependant at the moment on my interim bill paying job the amount of time allotted.
And at what age starting out doing art?! upon reflection I think was winning a Sunday school art competition aged 7 or 8 that initially fired a life long artistic passion, but honestly I guess it comes down to genes, the paternal side of the family is loaded with creative's i.e. dancers, painters, sculptors, musicians, writers even a couple of poets thrown in for good measure. Anyhow as long as my cognitive senses remain intact I'll continue scratching away on paper and/or tablet
@Blond - started off aged about 11 copying comic strips from '2000 ad' using a fountain pen. I used to fill whole rolls of wallpaper lining paper with these. But 3d started back in about 1996 or so using a free 3d program called Imagine:) I had been an airbrush artist prior to that for about 7 years.
I might have to get inpatient treatment for my mental health. And I had one too many panic attacks during work and ended up losing it (it was a good job too) and I'm still not over that. A week ago I tried talking to my parents (cause I have no friends) about psychologists but they told me its pointless and I had to be strong on my own.

Hi Azure Really sorry to hear this, go and see a General Practitioner and get some advice.
Got an email today informing me that I owe $8000 to my university for unpaid tuition this semester, even though I already paid it and I have financial aid. No longer does any of that appear in billing now though and when I contacted them to make an appointment about the issue they just sent a reply with a tacked on late payment fee. Yay US education!
Did a couple of long and painful UV sessions in Maya. I thought that maybe unfold was just made to be... goofy in 2018. Turns out I didn't have the Unfold3D plugin loaded, so maya runs a considerably less useful unwrap routine.
Our new quality manager at work doesn't believe that I'm chronically ill and is demanding a sick note every time I miss a day, nevermind I already provided a note earlier stating that I have chronic illness and I will miss days at seemingly random intervals. On top of that my stomach hurts and I feel just plain sick. On top of that the plant manager is just all kinds of nasty and yells at me more often than not.
I just want this day to be over so I can go home and draw for a bit.
@Ruz Sadly no. No union, if I speak up it's just shut down. I've complained before and nothing has changed. The place feels like its going to hell in a handbasket and the stress is eating me alive.
This is what makes me and my
co-workers mad. We're 4 people.
We got a new lead artist half a year ago. He doesn't manage projects as
he is supposed to, we do ourselves. Doesn't talk much... "hello" and "goodbye" seems enough to him. Doesn't listen to
advice or look up his problems himself, always asks first... 20 times a day
sometimes instead of using google to find out how to increase the brush size in PS (yea, you did read right). Asks for your opinions and then ignores your input completely. Especially if it doesn't align with what he thinks. This is making us all mad, since we're used to find solutions to our problems and get through the stuff no matter what. Gotta be better after a well rested weekend tomorrow.
Halfway through my annual Hol's and already 3 weeks out! starting too psyche myself up at the prospect of returning to work...enduring extended nightshift hr's outside in a southern hemisphere winter, no less
@TheFlow He doesn't seem like a lead at all. We've got a new guy at work that does things similar as far as the ask first and ignore second. Doesn't like to learn it seems. Gets annoying when people on the team are genuinely getting work done and this guy drops a persons productivity into the trash for an hour or so everyday.
