i hope this is not narrative/story driven... part of why i love this game is just me figuring out what is going on, and exploring and confronting in a non linear manner wherever i want to go.
I completly agree with you, if one want to understand all the background story there is both in dark souls and demon souls, you have to play like an archeologiste reading every little piece of story every items has to offer, and that for me is priceless.
What I'm the most excited about though is hearing that multiplayer communication will still be very limited. That's one of the things I really love about the PVP in DaS. Communicating with people via abstract taunts is just too much fun and "Well, what is it!" move says more than words ever could. :poly142:
Edit:
Also, happy to hear that they plan on giving a bit more love to the PC version. That's where the PVP community seems to be at these days.
The way the multiplayer system work is the funnest part though hopefully its not as hard trying to co-op with a buddy. MANY failed to summons.. yet getting invaded no prob by 2-3 people almost instantly with ease is bullshit.
Yeah, that part really sucked. Luckily, there's DSCfix that takes care of that problem. If they can make summons works just like it, with people on your friendlist getting the priority, then it will be enough for me.
Not the place but eh! I just started Demons souls since i got it for free on PS+ and man, it's great. Really nice game and it gives me something to play until Dark souls 2 is out!
New trailer though it doesn't show anything new however some facts on Facebook came up as well as new pics.
"White phantoms summoned to help you are on a timer so you can't let them power through the whole level for you, the more guys the phantom kills the faster the timer depletes. There's a covenent where you join and when a phantom invades you a blue phantom will automatically be summoned to help you. Also when you become undead you can still get invaded and lose a portion of your health."
One of my favorite things about Dark Souls was the story telling. I loved how the story was there, you just had to go find it. And I loved how you had to figure everything out for yourself. I'm really worried they are going to change it to a story where NPCs just tell you everything
I'm so stoked for this game. I really got into the first one, and Demon's souls. I was late to the party on both of those though. I look forward to jumping in on the ground floor with this, and needing to figure everything out on my own.
Hmm, interesting. Sounds like these changes will hit both co-op and ganking.
Making coop more difficult is disappointing, but I will gladly pay the price. I hardly every see people doing coop anyway. Ganksquads meanwhile are a big problem for PVP.

Yeah, they are. The first test was meant to be only 5000 per region but the next one will be much bigger, and will be all regions simultanously. So I imagine networking won't work
If you're US then they will probably release a universal beta key you need to enter in the PSN store (that's what happened this time) but if you're EU you need to buy a ticket to be considered.
I played the TGS demo yesterday at NYCC. It was awesome, the game feels very fluid and nice. While the demo had a lot of life gems it was still pretty tough. I made it up to the Mirror Knight, it was an intense fight. Fighting the Knight while he was summoning NPCs was crazy, I'm sure when the game is released it will be actual players, which will be even more intense.
guy sucks at the game... but so far all UI looks more streamlined, game looks fantastic... like a blend of Demon Souls and Dark Souls, the AI looks way cool and varied. I can't wait for this game!!!
Awesome, even more psyched now! Putting in an order for that
Yeah, I got in. All my worries about the change of directors were completely dispelled. Even in beta, it feels extremely well polished. Although the demo was pretty short, it seems like the game is taking the best out of both Demon and Dark Souls. The aggressiveness of the enemies made me feel pretty agitated and that tension of exploring unknown locations is back. The changes to the equipment and combat are awesome and bode well for the PVP scene.
Can't wait for the next beta phase and the release. March feels so far away.
Any word of it being released on the next consoles? Not that it's a dealbreaker, shit's gonna get played hard. Not even wanting to take part of beta for once so I can get it fresh

Nah, not right now - just PS3/360. Word has floated around of a separate Demons' Souls sequel for next gen, but I don't believe it.
Habboi: make sure you've got your beta ticket if you're EU and you can still have a chance at getting into the next beta in just over a week. It'll be much larger so you have better odds.
The "DARK SOULS II Closed Beta - Registration Ticket" right? I "bought" it on PSN as soon as it was available and of course it was free so I say bought cause that's how it worked since it was on the PSN store ;P
Well, I just want to get a feel for the new controls and weight changes. I'll still get it regardless.
Apparently this is the limited edition box art for the Spanish release of Dark Souls 2. I think thats what it says, I forgot my spanish when I moved to the states.
I actually played it on Gamex in Stockholm a couple of weeks ago. (2-3?) It felt alot slower and harder than both Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. I played the Warrior and the one-handed thrust attack felt as if it took 1.5 times as long as in Dark Souls, maybe even more.
A bit stressful playing a game like Dark Souls 2 with people breathing down your neck so I didn't play more than a couple of minutes. Considering this I didn't make it very far into the demo, didn't level up for obvious reasons.
I think it will take some getting used to the slower fighting and being more deliberate with your attacks. Maybe they have upped the attack speed from stats or added an attack speed debuff on heavy armor.
Anyhow I'm looking forward to playing this in the comfort of my own home in the future!
I still hope they add more Demon's Souls into the game, I think it was vastly superior to Dark Souls when it comes to Story and partially boss battles. Dark Souls is much more of a grind that Demon's Souls ever was. But that is another debate entirely!
While the graphics do look pretty dated, especially now that the next gen is out, I don't think it's something I will be bothered by having played the beta.
The combat looks really fluid and fast paced which I always consider to be a great thing. Personally I think the visuals look pretty nice also, I love the massive scale of everything.
So some of the translations are interesting. Seems to suggest that first pic might be a HUB of sorts and there might be more character interactions too rather than it being a lonely adventure.
Yeah I hope it doesn't become the same shit you see in every fuckin' AAA game. The reason people love Dark Souls is because it was a breath of fresh air away from the typical AAA cinematic story structure.
Dark Souls encouraged the player to live within the world and learn the lore as you played, or, not learn it at all if you didn't care.
For all we know these pics depict cinematic style angles for when you talk to an NPC. I'm not too worried about cutscenes to be honest as long as they are restricted to the hub as seems the case.
I guess I'm in the minority but I'd gladly welcome cutscenes. If you don't want to watch them I'm sure they're skippable. I think cutscenes can make certain scenes a lot more memorable, such as the introduction of a boss for example.

One of the most memorable moments for me was when the after 5 minutes into the game, a giant demon drops down from the rooftop and starts smashing me to pieces with no warning or time to formulate a plan. No introduction or "Hi this is Michael our neighbourhood demon, he is about to get pretty angry with you".
So interesting little thing I noticed is that ENB is working on the guide book and has played unfinished builds. Regardless what's important is this, he says it's better than DkS 1 and he loves it. I will take his word for it.

I'm worried that someone spend money on making them instead of adding more ineractive and playable content. Or just more swords models.
I can't imagine there would be a lot of cutscenes, maybe just one every few hours of gameplay so I wouldn't really worry about it detracting from the game itself as it can't possibly be that expensive in terms of time/money.
Personally I'm hoping the game ships with some mod tools as I would love to make some content for the game. I'm not sure if they have talked about it at all though.

Being a sunlight warrior helped me get summon priority over invasions that was a bit of help
I'd give up getting laid to have this game now :P

Happy to hear that being hollow doesn't prevent invasions anymore. Should make things even more tense :poly114b:
*Screams at monitor*
That fight XO
It was brutal... brutally short. Two hours is not enough, the next five months are going to be long.

Needless to say I died lol.

New trailer! looks so dreadful but so awesome!
Sooo hyped!
I updated trailers on front page also.
Lastly, anyone notice 2:03 you hear "We need the Abyss"

I'm scared of that fire boss though.

And he says the humour is still there so in other words, it's Dark Souls but better ;P Expect giant dad jokes.

The winners of the shield designs. 2 out of 6. They also showed off screens of the real life versions they'll be getting.
