I gave Aqua Fortis a vote, but it troubles me that you say it was posted in 11-12 hours. I uploaded my third one about 40+ hours ago and it adheres to all their newly posted rules...
Hopefully it is as you say and just a result of the growing number of entries.
Much appreciated! I hope your design will get approved eventually. Just a pity that the contest's vote distribution seem to come down to the submission date.
Ouch, it beggars belief how someone thought it was ok to take a sword from skyrim and throw it on his shield. I feel sick that I voted for it @_@
I second this. It's like since they posted the rules reminder...like loads good shield are turning out to be copyrighted one after the other. Not to say of course they all are, but quite a few of the top 30's are being brought into question now as well.
Well I just whistled out loud instinctively. Hot giggedy damn. And don't worry about the shield contest, it's been proven now that many leading submissions are using bots. A new shield uploaded today got 300 votes almost instantly.

Loving it Sean. It's a pity that so many of the leading shields appear to be violating the rules in some form now. However, the guys leading the page posted a little while ago that the illegal shields would removed sometime this week, said something like they were compiling a list first though.
Hot DAMN Sean, that is one sexy goddamn piece of work! Might you possibly slip that hot thing into Skyrim? It would oh so improve the quality of work on it's mods.
Also seeing how the competition is being all poopoo, what do you guys think of the visuals of DS 2?
Technically they seemed mixed with some low res textures here and there, design is top notch as always though, especially the armours (love Ornsteins Armour so goddamn much), though I do wonder about how big the game will be, seeing how they amped up environmental artists and world builders etc and the overal graphical quality (bar the lighting) seems to be the same. It's not bad though, really loving it
More content is never a bad thing in my eyes Hell the DLC with the new areas got me all hyped again. You just can't experience that same feeling once you know where every enemy is and every surprise :<
I suspect it'll be more like Demon's Souls. More depressing and dark. Compared to Demon's, Dark was actually a colourful and cheerful place.
Was casually playing some Dark Souls and...the flickering glitch is back. I'm generally curious to know how it works. The flickering glitch first appeared sometime after the DLC was introduced. At first everything was fine but then suddenly bonfires, soul signs, particles, all started flickering and not rendering at all. It had something to do with being online and the bug only affected the DLC areas, not the main game. However now the bug is back after the latest patch only the bug didn't appear at first. In fact just like before it randomly came out of nowhere and playing offline fixes it. So I'm curious how it's handled, are these effects tied to something online?
Awesome. They're releasing the art book in the US. Doesn't come out until November, but hey. Better late than never I suppose.
edit - Oops, I meant to throw this into the thread for the first Dark Souls, but you know what....I'm sure the people who look in this thread may find it interesting as well.
It's really weird. I wasn't in the top 30 so why am I suddenly in the shortlist? @_@ Well even if it is a scam, not like I lose anything by sending the files :P

More Dark Souls 2 concept art has been added here.
It seems like they are heavily expanding the Dark Souls universe and exploring the world of the living rather than just Gods and Undead on this game. Atleast that's the feeling I got while browsing through the concepts and keeping in mind that the trailers so far have also not taken place in any of the places introduced in Dark Souls. I really hope they keep the subtle way of story telling and that they don't contradict any of the lore already set in place by Dark Souls.
I love the environment concepts and would love these places to be in the game (especially that windmill-mountain pass), but the armors and creatures seem all over the place.
Well considering there was a concept of the chariot seen in the gameplay video I'd consider them quite legit. And the overall feel of the concepts matches that of the concepts in the design works book of Dark Souls 1.
To clarify I was talking mainly about the new concepts. Concepts 1-15 are from the Edge article and we've known them to be legit for a while.
Anyways, if this source is legit (can't read the original Chinese source) the concepts are real and the artist got in trouble because of the leak, which sucks
Interesting stuff. I reckon the teleporting bonfires to boss arena is going to be in the final game. Demon's Souls had several points where you were teleported to entirely new areas. As for the thing he spoiled, if you've seen the latest E3 trailer then it isn't a spoiler, just refers to the mirror part at the end.
I knew he was gonna say the combat felt different. I could tell they adjusted it...seems more floaty to me.
Love the fact robes have physics now and I'm torn between a magic or melee build for my first playthrough I always end up playing heavy melee knight first of all...might change that to make things interesting.
Considering Dark Souls 1 had visitors from all over its world in Lordran it makes sense that Dark Souls 2 which does not take place in Lordran has base enemies wearing iterations of unique armors seen in Dark Souls 1.
If we went to Catarina everyone would wear the silly Onion Knight Armour set :P
Game is looking amazing, reading up on the new features is making me bit iffy on some things though...
Fast travel, health stones that slowly regenerate your health that can be used while moving, 3 weapon slots on each hand as well as a create your own class system (which I guess is fine, seeing how the class you put points into in the beginning is named after one of the standard Soul classes).
Just hope the game is still open like DaS 1 and even harder. Going to start my SL 1 run through DaS 1 soon, after that DaS 2 better punch my nads :P
I'm not sure why you are afraid of that. The combat feels exactly like Dark Souls, with maybe a hint of Demon's Souls' "lightness". The warrior did look a little bit floaty at times, but other builds seemed perfectly fine.
Not sure if you play much PVP, but Dark Souls is already filled with a bunch of ninja flipping, Dark Bead-spamming wizards, so I'm not sure how much worse it can get. :poly142:
Eh this isn't new but I found it fascinating because I sometimes wondered just how well connected the realm of Lordran was...Take a gander. In the lore Ash Lake is meant to be the lowest point in the world but this level design shows it's actually Lost Izalith :P
Oh, yeah, that I do agree, there were better, even from PC'ers, but strangely enough they didn't include any 'professional' ones in, like those by earlier design of Sean and others on Polycount. I wonder why...
What I wanna know is when we are getting Dark Souls figures and toys...I would buy them all.
This. I've been itching for some nice DS merchandise, but all I could ever find were some cheap looking t-shirts. DaS is just asking for some kickass figurines.
Yeah, I recall seeing those and as far as I know, the guy is actually selling them. Unfortunately, a lot of them have a very rough, hand-made look. While I understand how that may appeal to some, personally I would have preferred something "cleaner". Dark Souls characters have very strong silhouettes and I feel like that gets a bit lost in these sculpts.
I guess for now, I will just grab that artbook when it comes out. I hope Namco does a sick limited edition for Dark Souls 2. I would be on that in a second.

Woo hoo!
Felt like the original had a better overall quality though, wonder if they lost some key people with the new game.

These are the shield design contest winners (not the last three, those are honorable mentions)
Any PC ones up there?
*puts on tin-hat*
