Well @StephenVyas, your animations are so awesome man! I really like your style. Great animations in this post. I just wanted you to check mine, it was like half an hour animation, its my first serious one, so I want to get loads of feedback. Thanks guys!
Absolutely amazing work in here guys! I'm excited to keep coming back to keep seeing the awesome.
My paltry contribution is a death anim I rendered-out from our game currently in-progress. Animated in 3DSMax, but using 2D Planes attached to a skeleton.
Great thread! I swear I've come across this in the past, but was too busy to participate. Looking to keep myself busy before I start a new animation gig, and this seems like a great place to keep me motivated.
Here's a quick clip of what I've been working on recently:

I've got you to thank for bringing me to this thread, Justin, and that anim is coming along great!
Used to do a lot of 2D animation in Flash, interested in getting back into it after reading through this whole thread. What would you guys recommend for 3D animation software? 3DS Max or Maya?
First of I would like to congratulate for Video Animation.Animation is most popular technique in making funny cartoon shows. There are lots of people who made animated films and shows for kids.kids also enjoy to watch them. There are many mythological shows have made by using 2D and 3D animation. Those who has an interest and want to make their career in the field of animation can visit an institute in Lucknow known as animation institute in Lucknow. Animation has bring a lot of opportunity to enhance creative potential.
What are you guys using to make your gifs? Is there a good alternative to Photoshop? I have been looking at the webm format but I cant figure out how to post it without breaking it or making it a link.
Animation is an art of making an imaginary image as realistic image. The animation includes all the techniques which makes this field technically strong. Some of the animation professionals works on animation with graphics.
Maya or 3DS Max for animation? What do you all recommend?
I use 3ds max, but I have only ever done first person animations. It works great for that, but the few times I've tried third person anims it was kinda difficult. I'e always heard maya over max when it comes to animating, so while both have their pros and cons I think maya is the unanimous winner.
@Alidium
Unfortunately PS is what I use to make the gifs... sorry man. : \
Thought i'd join in this epic thread with a quick block out of a run cycle I put together tonight for a robotic coalmine minecart with legs (i'll explain later lol).
Needs work on timing and I think the height could do with more work as well but for 20 minutes it's a start.
The anim is due to part of a blended anim system with this being the fastest he will run (in theory anyway).
Edit: Rotated the top forward which improves the feel a bit.
Ok here we go. Worked out the gif thing.
I went over 20 on this. I had this started a while ago but never finished it. Found it again and fixed it up some. Where do you guys get your rigs? I have a few that I made but its not something I'm the best at. I'd like to have a few nice ones to work with.
I had a few friends at school point this thread out to me. This took me about 30 give or take 5 minutes, I did this on my break during my composting class
First time poster here! My friends pointed out this thread and its was just too cool not to be apart of. I spent my 30 min break in class blocking this animation out.
Here is another one. This one was actually done in 20 minuets this time. The gif thing is slowing it down a bit. I'll see if i can work that out for the next one
Decided to take a small break from that one so I can come back to it with fresh eyes in a week or two. I've been working on a Gallop cycle for the Centaur Warrunner from DOTA 2. I rigged him up only to later find that AndrewHelenek beat me to it! Might use some of your other DOTA 2 rigs for future tests, Andrew, so thanks in advance!
Anyway, enough with the words! Here's my latest. Feedback is always welcome.
Wooh! love this idea! I wanna join in on the fun ^^
I was aiming for a short animation. But instead I have been tweaking this the entire evening
Anyhow, here is the resault.
[EDIT] Funny thing that polycount uses the same exact gray as maya lambert xP
I have to stop making my GIFs so big...sorry folks, I'll remember next time. Got this Raptor rig at 3DMotive just finished the block-out. I've only just discovered Stepped Tangents :shifty: just goes to show how much I don't know. But blocking-out is so much fun now!
Someone sticky this thread!!!!
Some really cool work here. I've recently been considering polishing my animation skills. So might have to contribute...
This time I accepted the challenge! 20 min animation limit. Heres the resault, was trying to save the tail from looking stupid when the alarm buzzed :P

Nothing in this animation are made by me except for the animation itself and "rigging" of the weapon.
Maya.
Max has it's pros and cons, but Maya is a stronger package for Animation. This isn't to say that people use max and get amazing results.
Note: I'm heavily biased.
Also, there has been some killer work in here lately! The animation punks of polycount are making moves
If you wanna break your head try Maya
Haven't personally used it, but there are a bunch of tutorials with how-to's on making gifs in it.
Here's one ->http://www.wikihow.com/Create-an-Animated-GIF-Image-with-GIMP
Lu u, It seems Maya is more wildly used, or at least has a greater market share at the moment in North America.
I still enjoy Max tho *shrug*

hehe, Switching between the two and trying to achieve similar results is an excellent exercise!
