The Hangouts plugin has an issue, still unresolved, where it will just refuse to connect, or seem to connect but you get no messages or video/audio from anyone else in the call.
The only way to fix it is to reboot, then connect immediately after rebooting. It will stay connected, but if you try to connect after your computer has been on for a while, for some reason it causes that error.
Also, if you don't plan to use your webcam microphone, make sure that you set your mic to whatever mic you're using. I plugged in my new webcam and it defaulted to using the webcam mic, and had the embarrassing time of people hearing my generic cursing at software when I thought I was muted on my headset mic.
Thanks for the info, Vertrucio, but I must be having a different issue. I've tried rebooting several times and still cannot connect. I can't get past the jiggling green logo. It won't even load into the hangouts menu before I get the error message.
Hangouts were working flawlessly until just a few days ago.
Did Google majorly break the Hangout Plugin on Windows? Or did windows do a security update that fubared it? I've been on different machines, different networks, and different browsers and I still cannot connect to Hangouts this last week on. Also Vertrucio, rebooting didn't help.

How to prevent these hangout events from spamming my calendar/widgets :P ? Android, btw. And it says these events happen every single day :P
For some reason I can not join the polycount hangouts anymore. I can make my own hangouts, join other hangouts, but the PC hangouts I can't connect to anymore. It just hangs at the green quotation marks icon. Anyone else having this issue?
Hey a friend of mine just told me about this, seems really cool idea. Is there like a sign up or anything. But I'll definitely try to join tonight or tomorrow
Hi Synen, it's completely open, just drop in whenever you want to CG and chat! Check TeriyakiStyle's links a few comments above and they will send you to an event page. From there just click on 'Join Hangout' and you'll be in. If the 'Main hangout' is too busy you can also try the 'Overflow Hangout'.
Terribly sorry for this hangout fail with a duplicate of my account stuck in the hangout stealing space. I tried absolutley everything but I can't manage to get it out of there. Super sorry about this! Hopefully google will reset it's connections tonight so it gets destroyed...

How about using Twitch ? When you subscribe to someone's channel you get notifications every time they start sharing screen. Good to be able to follow specific artists based on their style or what programs they use...
