Hi guys , just finished my drow set that I've remade/retouched (wasnt to polished at that time due to lack of skill i guess )
Any oppinions?
the new version
the old version
i have to admit, i like the old version more, it's better readable, the feathers add some nice contrast overall, now it became very monotonous which is definitely not the case in the old version.
Hello,
This is my first item for Dota 2 and its a ZBrush model for Witch Doctors weapon. Comments / critics / suggestions are welcome
Ps. There are really awesome models on this forum.
there are quite a few flaws in that promopic, first of all her stance is pretty weak, better than the old but still. Second thats totally not like an archer would hold a bow, there are good poses in the animations, they maybe not totally realistic but they have some nice rythm and flow and gesture, why didn't you load one of these?
Besides that, i think the way you cut her foot with that blue bar and the little space on the top makes this whole thing feel very rushed.
By the quality of your assets, you can definitely do better!
Could you help me? What heroes can wear this weapons :icon_question: :
Yeah, you should prolly get back, take a look at the heroes and design gear FOR the heroes, instead of designing andthen trying to find the hero that can use it.
Also, that bow is too flimsy for dota, take a look at some existing ones to understand what i mean.
I actually suggest you play some Doto too, maybe just those fancy tutorials to feel the look first.
Well here is my thread if you haven't seen it yet.
This is my low poly with basic diffuse. I'm going to sculpt this later for the normals.
I think I can make this look similar to a natilus shell(in terms of texture) or scales(the red being scales and the blue being some sort of bio-luminescence)
Just got the preview video left to hack together, and one alternative head piece to complete.
Unfortunately today's patch seems to have broken my blade particle imports Had to leave them out of the preview images because of that. I did figure out what was wrong with the off-hand though!
I REALLY REALLY REALLY think Valve should stop with their cosmetics.
Though it looks like those things are still WIP, so maybe they'll turn out better. Still, looks like some kind of training items, i wonder what's up.
Hello everybody, this is a test in the game viewer. I still need to work on the texture because I didn’t know that it’s so compressed and now it’s too late to optimize the UV.
ncparvu: I think it looks fine compression wise .
I recomend adding a gradient from top to bottom (bot- darker). Maybe making the ropes black /brown ish to hide the fact that its not shaded and to add more contrast .
Cheers
looks like the rimlight is bugged, either lower it in the masks or check if your normals are in sync with source, ie. bake it in object space and transfer it to source tangentspace with handplane3d.

They are all very cool, but there is just so much I like about that Nyx set. Too good.

Streinghtened her a little in the promo pic :
Allso left the old bow / hood as alternative ones as I see some interest in them

Edit: but yeah you should totally play the game first
Some animations from last nights stream, Plant's Visage themed ward!
That's awesome, but in my opinion the spawning animation seems kind of bumpy as a whole. The gargoyle moves, stops, then the chain moves, then stops.
Perhaps you can put the chain around his waist and make it fall to where it floats.

The whole time I thought that was a Drow bow. It's way cooler on Clinkz.
Though it looks like those things are still WIP, so maybe they'll turn out better. Still, looks like some kind of training items, i wonder what's up.
here is some WIP pictures
Rifle
Agreed, i have no idea what's going on there. Looks like he's got a bucket on his head.
Amazing ward. The texture should be a bit darker though so it matches Visage better.
new
old (horra-bad)
Maybe a Monty Python special, who knows.

@AndrewHelenek:
Very original ward there, nice job
