Hello there!
So... this is my 2nd year trying to finish an enviro Challenge, hope this is the one I finish. So far I've more or less matched the perspective and proportions of the reference (I just started working on the 1st of Feb)

Since I've had a hard time finishing environments so far, I will take a sort of MVP approach and so I only will be doing 7 tileable materials as color coded, and 6 props and reuse them as much as possible. That plus the cables, pipes and decals should be enough detail... I hope

It's daunting but exciting.

Hello everyone. First post on Polycount, I've been a follower for some time now.
First challenge I pushed myself towards completing and quite possibly first piece completed ever without giving it the usual treatment of "saving and forgetting about it".

With this one playing around with berzier curves for the wires and experimenting with materials was a lot of fun, plus I wanted to vertex paint by hand some roughness maps which I have done for the body, cap and on the wires where the friction might take place once opened. I have found out that mixing those hand painted roughness maps with noise texture ends up looking very cool although I don't think I've given it a proper balance yet between the two.

Also, lighting isn't my strongest suit so I don't know what I was doing lol.

Sanctum of Forgotten Hymns

Hey friends, I'll be trying my hands at unlit hand painted style. Here is the modeling so far. Will make a few adjustments but I think I'm almost ready to move on to the rest of the process.

Haven't posted in a while. Did some cleanup and added the final detailing on the skin and metal a little bit ago and have started on the low poly. I'm trying a new method for retopology and it's taking forever lol, so getting to baking is going to be a ways away.

The color texture isn't exactly where I want it to be, so I might do some photoshop tweaking on the diffuse later on.

Re: Need help with weapon measurements clarification (Mossberg 590A1)

@Lemenus when modeling firearms you usually start with the cartridge because that gives you the diameter of the barrel and from there you can extrapolate most dimensions. For Mossberg 590A1, it's 12-gauge so I looked up the bore diameter for that and another search gave me the outer barrel diameter as well. Knowing the barrel length you pretty much have everything you need to get this fairly accurate. Hope this helps:

[Edit] I don't quite follow why you say that needing references images is a problem. If you want to model a complex shape/object accurately you need lots of references, this is normal and there is no way around that.
