hey everyone
since the new bloom event is now over and u all had some days to recover urself
- i will now officialy start this thread. most of the rules we have already talked about in that former
poll thread. u still have 2 days time before the events starts, so maybe use the time and do already the
*introduction part.
so here is the rough info:
Polycount Community Chest Event #1
event
start 1.february
event
deadline 15.april (so we have exactly
2months time) only submissions that are finished inside the deadline will count for the event.
goal is to produce
hero sets, wards, couriers or huds -
in a friendly and supportive atmosphere
there wont be a
limit on the number of people who will be allowed to join this event,
as well as every project that is finished in time will be added to the
one big workshop chest collection.
if valve likes to add our polycount chest, they can decide which submission they wana take in.
introduction: to take part, u should write what u can do /like to do
(
concept, modeling, texture, animation, particles, whatever) and give a link to
ur workshop
and /or
ur personal polycount thread, so its easier for everyone to find a team.
maybe u can even say what u are looking for, or if u are a concept artist u can already post ur concept. (also plz dont spamm ur stuff
) this helps not only the individuals to find teams but also makes it easier to organise this event.
teams can be
one or more persons, i know there are several people out there who are able to produce
a set all alone - u can do that, but it would be nice if u would still team up with anyone
that would push a bit the learning from each other effect. also use the chance and do not team up someone u allways team up^^
use the chance and team up with someone new, maybe someone who u allways wanted to work with - but never had the chance to.
as well as
one team must only focus on one project and try to make that as good as possible.
another little limitation here is that u can max. take part in 2 projects (if u do one project with one team,
and the other one with another team - in the second team there should be no people that are already in the first) this rule is because this event is for a community chest and should not be the stage for a single artist that can just produce stuff like a maniac
the %
revenue share should be choosen inside the team
individual to how the work split is. we wont set up anything fix here.
the
theme is
free this time.
(maybe u should not pick chen, slardar, void or kotl, since i heard valve doesnt like
to add sets for those heroes atm since they are going get a touchup - if u still want ofc u can pick them - its no rule)
feedback and criticism: i think we should use the thread to
show wips (same as it is currently done in the monthly polycount competition).
but we can also use skype groupchat - or google hangout.
if u give feedback to something, plz keep in mind the other guy is also a human with feelings.
try to avoid things like "looks allover shit" but try to give constructive feedback.
for
submitting we will take the
guide of thiago
after the event is over and all submissions have been added to the big workshop collection there will be also a
reddit post about it to promo it.
ok, i hope i didnt forget anything - and if, i will edit it in later
now enjoy!
edit: new deadline

For now I'll be working solo, I wanna work on my own concepts for a bit longer, but my 2D skills are pretty terrible, I might need to collab with someone for the loadingscreen.
I'm currently working on a WR set which I started before New Bloom but had to put it on hold for New Bloom. The set is still far from finished, so I'll post WIPs as I work on it, is that acceptable? I'm fine with working on another set though
Edit: I'll be teaming up with Keinhangia for his Storm concept right after I'm done with my WR set
currently working on a WD project, as my first solid set, and my first to be done till the end, but i`m in for any collabs.
my portofolio, although much thinner that the rest of the guys here: No pie`s steam wkshp
Need concepts and promo help.
Fingers crossed I'll have a good amount of time after then current freelance work I'm on.

I think I might have a team lined up already also.
I pretty much do everything, but prefer to make concepts and 3d modeling and sculpting parts the most.
We've already been honing the concept, but no work on the items themselves have started yet. You guys can see the dusa concepts so far in Pipotchi's thread, and I guess when the concept is more or less complete we could post a "how did this concept get here" process.
Also, we intend to let this set take its time and make sure it's well made and polished, so we might eventually miss the April deadline, but yeah, if we do it's because we werent satisifed with the final product. (Or maybe because I modelled too slowly XD)
Shock's initial post says 2 entries max per person. Bounch was suggesting 1 max per person which I would agree with too.
I plan on doing a courier for this, as I've been dying to start on a concept that I've been kicking around for awhile, which I'll probably need a loading screen and maybe particles for.
Depending on how much time I get after that, I'd also quite like to do some modelling/texturing with someone. I can animate, but I've done a lot of that recently and I want to switch it up a bit.
If we reduce the limit to 1, I'm here to give feedback to anyone that needs it and feel free to add me on steam if you haven't already. I'm usually around if you need an extra pair of eyes.
This is going to be awesome.
we can discuss this a little more seriously as we actually get further along, but for now let's just consider this a polycount community chest more than an *official polycount thing*
or is everybody going solo? I`m not trying to force a collab here but i`ve seen through the months that the comunication department is lacking a bit on the forums. At least for us newcomers/ starters.
Also i have a question: Shock said max 2 projects/ team or user. does the term PROJECT mean a whole set or just a regular item slot?
I just re-read Shock's main post. There seems to be no limit on entries per artist/team. I would vote for no limit on the entries, as it is now.
Must be Fun !
Workshop - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198020116544/myworkshopfiles/
I think 1 is better cause it allows people to focus on one good quality set, gives chance to everyone and also prevents some people from their plans getting messed up because the other end is busy with another project.
When the limit is 2, people will still be able to focus on one quality set, BUT it will give other people who want to work some more on the chest the option to do so, by creating ANOTHER set. 2 is not much.
I'm a concept artist
My thread - http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=143883
"one team must only focus on one project"
1 entry would make more sense with the mindset of the event, but I do not mind 2.
Remember, it's not about who is able to make the most stuff, but representing equally all the artists who choose to be a part of this community event.
Ah, yes, just saw that. 1 set it is!
