Hello , what's you favorite technique to make snowy rocks ? I mean how you paint the snow vertically in the cracks and fenditures a rock may have and paint over the top of rocks?
Hello! I was practicing sculpting(This is the second thing I have ever sculpted) and I came to find that my rocks looked muddy or soft. Any tips on making the rock more solid? I was thinking of using the paint tool in mudbox to paint the spec map on the rocks black to take away the shine. Any others tips? Thanks in…
Hello fellow unreal users. I'am kind of new to the polycount forum, but I thought this is the right place to promote my recently released Mega Rock Pack. The package consists of 30 photorealistic rocks (thanks to photogrammetry) wich can be customized to fit in pretty much every scene. That is accomplished by the expensive…
I've modeled quite a few rocks, even picked them up from outside and brought them to my desk to sculpt them 1:1. Trust me man, the rocks never got offended or accused me of plagiarizing. Either way you are starting to get some nice hard edges on your rocks, but when you sculpt them, think of what kind of rocks they are.…
Hey polycounters, I've been posting here and there for a while now and thought it would be time to have a proper workflow and critics thread myself. I will also use this thread for posting my further workflow. I'm a game arts student in Berlin, currently in my 5th semester (of seven). I have just started a new group…

I'm not an expert by any means, but it seems to me they're just too generic. Modular pieces can still have detail. Technically, I see a couple spots where the UVs are off and causing unfortunate stretching. Artistically, you're lacking a unified theme between all the rocks (The Witcher 2 reference you're showing is missing…
https://www.artstation.com/artwork/8AVax Put a lot of time and effort into this one! Worked a lot on how the sand warps around the rocks and how the sand blends with the rocks. Enjoy! P.S. Critique most appreciated.
Sure thing! Make sure to get those rocks mashed into your terrain sooner, rather than later. Quick paintover... Blockout is super important for figuring out what kind of rocks you actually need, and which you don't, plus any different kinds of rock assets you wish you had!
Hey, good luck with rock sculpting! It's tougher than it looks, but it doesn't take too long to get decent at. For this rock, what is the reference you are using? It's odd to see parts of the rock stick and point out so much. Usually those areas would be the first to break off, and make a less pointy rock. I can't really…
